  1. I am looking for a small Aeola with anything from 8 to 24 keys ( they exist! ). Does anyone now of anyone, who might have one for sale
  2. Pity, it didn't sell!! It is sitting on my shelf - waiting for offers etc.... All details still can be seen at ebay!
  3. I just aquired one of those marvels ( for sale in a German Ukulele forum ;-) she is in the post to me. Does anybody know, if there are boxes or gigbags available for the little one? I want to convert her for a child: does anybody know, where I can get two finger-rests from?
  4. I have listed a rare German Concertina with piano-keyboard at ebay.de http://www.ebay.de/itm/Seltene-Konzertina-mit-Klaviertasten-Rare-German-Concertina-with-piano-layout-/161226919020?pt=Tasteninstrumente&hash=item2589df8c6c You should find all details there. I always wanted a piano-keyed one, but this one wil take a lot of work - too much for me right now. Postage to Britain 15€... Happy bidding
  5. Thank's a lot for all that useful information! Has anyone ever seen a baritone anglo with more than 30 / 31 keys ( i.e. 37 / 39 / 45 )??
  6. I met Ralf a while ago at an Irish event at Proitzer Mühle and had a chance to play one of his instruments. I was quite impressed with sound and action! He lives in a German region called "Siebengebirge", which roughly translates into seven moutains;-)
  7. I'm looking for a pair of good finger-rests ( plated, not brass! ) to convert a nice Lachenal 20 key miniature English System concertina for a child.
  8. Geoff, I would love to get my hands on a mini-concertina-door-bell-push-button ( like you used to have at your shop )!!! Any chance of a one-off? Or did you keep the original one?
  9. The tenor treble Aeola is sold! How do I know? I bought it!! It is a rare TT in baritone-size with a more comfortable finger-position for playing low notes - the same model that Dave Townsend plays... I'm delighted!
  10. I proudly wish to invite you all to the 23. annaul German Concertina Meeting! With a bit of luck we will have participants from close to 10 European countries ( including England, Ireland and Scottland! )! Following last year's fun we have asked Edel Fox back to care for the Irish-Anglo players. In addition Adrian Brown will look after the non-Irish Anglos, while Rainer Schwarz will make the best of the two row German concertina and her followers. The amazing Rainer Süßmilch plays all that jazz, while Nils Meyn cares for group-playing, both on English concertina. Even though Jutta Jagenteufel is a professional accordion-player, she will teach improvisation and accompaniment - for everyone to benefit from. As usual Jürgen Suttner will be around with his mobile concertina-clinic. There will be the usual Saturday-night concert, sessions, the concertina-flee-market and lots more. Find out more @ www.concertinas.de ( we have an English version! )
  11. I am interested in a baritone anglo. Does anybody own one? I would like to see the inside and get an idea of the dimensions??? What keys do they come in? Who made them??
  12. About five years ago I had a chance to try this instrument. Special about it is that it has an extra row of buttons on each side, which play same note on push and pull. So it is basically a combination of anglo and duet. As the instrument is quite large, it is not necessarily a dream instrument for an Irish player, but it is very rare and unusual and with some practise one should be able do do interesting things with it... If offered by one of the established shops, it should fetch well over 4.000 Sterling... It seems that panda-bear does not really want to sell. Otherwise he would publish the serial number and the exact layout - or at least be nice to potential buyers...
  13. Here it is: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/musical-instruments-/161148085242?pt=UK_MusicalInstr_Keyboard_RL&hash=item25852ca3fa Lovely instrument - unfortunaltely I own exactly the same one ;-)
  14. My total hero on the English concertina is my friend Rainer Süßmilch. I love his interpretation of "somewhere over the rainbow", which he played at the last German Concertina Meeting in March 2013: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgYcJg2yxlI
  15. I have a couple of nice original Wheatstone leather-cases, that came with instruments. On several of them the short leather-straps with the little metal-plates to fit into the lock are missing. On some others the straps and buckles are missing. Does anybody have s source for these parts?
  16. I own two 48 key tenor Aeolas - both of them are very slightly bigger than a treble ( 17,1cm ( 6 3/4" ) against 16,5cm ( 6 1/2" ))...
  17. Carol says that the instrument has 48 keys. According to the number it is in fact a Model 17a, a 48 key tenor ( not tenor treble! ). These are quite rare and desirable! I am lucky to own a similar tenor ( 33.0xx ), which used to belong to Alf Edwards... It is an incredible instrument ( and I payed a good bit more for it! )... I do hope that Carol's instrument will find a good home!
  18. The seller has several cheap concertinas up for sale - if you hurry up...
  19. In 1975 I lived in Newcastle for a while. One night I heard Alistair Anderson play with the ranters at the high-level-folk-club. The next day I put an advert in the cronicle and bought my first Lachenal rosewood. A short time later I was lucky to aquire a lovely Boyd-Wheatstone ( 110 Pound! ) in Sunderland, which was and still is a joy to play. 1978 I bought a 31.xxx EE 48-key Aeola of Steve Chambers ( still in London ). I adjusted the springs on those two boxes for lighter action and in the end the EE Aeola became my favourite. The two of us just grew together. I must have had well over 100 concertinas, almost half of them Aeolas including torts and amboynas, double-bass to piccolo. However I would always choose this particular box, if I was allowed only one;-) It was a good instrument in the first place and many years of regular playing have improved it even further. I have never played a box that I would swap for my Tina;-) And I am positive that she will survive me...
  20. The Einheits Bandoneon was very popular in Germany. Especially in the Ruhr-area there used to be many bandoneon-bands. The "rheinische Stimmung" was not so popular, so Arnold shipped those off to Argentina for Tango;-) Usually you find several here: http://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_nkw=bandoneon&_sop=3&_frs=1
  21. The Jones has landed in Germany by now, but it is still for sale. I would accept 500 Pound ( plus 15 Pound postage ).
  22. Here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Antique-Wheatstone-Aeola-Concertina-Baritone-Treble-/330922760737?pt=UK_MusicalInstr_Keyboard_RL&hash=item4d0c889a21 is another one!!! I would certainly prefer this one, even though it will need some loving care!
  23. It sold for 1.525 $, aprox. 1.000 Pound. Not a bad price for such a rare beauty!
