  1. Michael, What's the reason you called the B and E accidentals "A#" and "D#" instead of the more commonly used "Bb" and "Eb"?
  2. He's actively discussing his ideas on http://englishconcertina.ning.com/ I'm sure he's happy to answer any question there.
  3. You can work with quotes: easy tunes for anglo beginners gives over 200 results. "easy tunes for anglo beginners" gives only one result (this topic) "easy tunes" anglo beginners gives 26.
  4. The place at the top of the list isn't sold, its given away, because it's no longer of use for Jim. He only wants to recover his $250 deposit, he doesn't make a profit. Another of the first laws of business is transparancy: If I found out -and in this small community I would find out- Wim allows such arrangements only in secret, I might as well suspect him of selling high places to the highest bidder. This offer is especially relevant for those who already decided to buy a WW concertina now, i.e. the people on the waiting list. Invest an extra $250 and have your WW Concertina a year quicker than you expected. A year later, when your original deposit is at the top of the list, you make the same offer as Jim did.
  5. No files. Using firefox. I opened an account for myself. Still nothing on your site. But standing in a folder, ther is a link on the rh side of the page: "customize folder URL. This link let you "globalize" that folder. Any help? Leonard
  6. See the keyboard chart by John Nixon on Chris Timpson's FAQ at concertina.info: http://www.concertin...ges/finger6.htm That shows, that if the RH side had the same 4x6 pattern, you would have an extra A flat (which is doubled by the G sharp on the LH side), but you would miss the highest C. Enjoy the beauty of this system by its crystal clear regularity!
  7. "MultiQuote" is used to reply to more than one post in a single post of your own. The point is that you want to include quotes from more than one post in your reply. Here's how: On each post from which you want to include a quoted portion, click on the "MultiQuote" button. Those you've clicked will change color. Then scroll to the top or bottom of the page and click on the "Add Reply" button. This will open the compose/edit window in the same way that clicking on a "Reply" button would, but it will include separate quoting of the full text of each of the posts where you selected "MultiQuote", complete with the identity of the poster, timestamp of the post, and link to the original post. You can even use it to quote from another subforum. See my post on the Test Forum
  8. That is, if it were an Anglo.... English Lachenals has their own numbering. 60000 is somewhere in the later 1920's. Edited to say: In his first post Avro707 says it's an English concertina. But I think the last Lachenal English had a much lower number than 87511.
  9. But he's still registered as a member, I think.
  10. Links to Blue Skies again. Should be: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIgXjKRz0vs&fmt=18 (Not sure about fmt=18, though) Thanks Leo. :)
  11. Yes, but this is also the Tunes/Songs subforum. And Dirge keeps it concertina related.....
  12. Paul Read was very close too: http://www.concertina.net/forums/index.php...;p=99998 And so was tombilly: http://www.concertina.net/forums/index.php...p=100001 But the winner is: ............... Snorre from Oslo, Norway!! http://www.concertina.net/forums/index.php...p=100000 Edited to add: but this leave us with the question why at Sep 17 2009, 9:55 PM the board statistics said: "Our members have made a total of 100000 posts"...
  13. Actually, Jenny has been here for a while, so it's nice to welcome her back! It's been a slow old day or so on C.net. I expected to wake up to find 100000 postings having been exceeded. Unless someone beats me to it, this will be either 100000 or 0. We'll know which, in a second! Sorry Peter, you're far too late: yours is 100866. See the link in the upper right corner (post #19): http://www.concertina.net/forums/index.php...p=100866 Post #100000 must have been on august 28. I didn't find it yet. But Chris Timson was very close: http://www.concertina.net/forums/index.php...;p=99999
  14. Well, even then, Pete .... Such a machine, as clever as it is, can't replace the personal discussions you started with this thread.
  15. Before I saw the answer I gave it a try in Tunepal, mentioned in this post. I just recorded the sound of the YouTube video. The gold Ring was number 9 in the list of possible answers. Not bad, I'd say.
  16. A diagonal line in one or more culumns, over one or more rows, means: for these rows and columns it's the same as the one above. So for #26908 this means: Column 1: production date; the same as #26907: Sept 17th, 1915 Column 2: model No.; as #26900: No.21 (For description see pricelist 1915 on concertina.com) Column 3: Special specifications; as #26900: Nickel Rosewood Polished S.V. W.S. (S.V.=air valve, W.S.=Wrist straps) Column 4: Batchnumber: 21. (Number used during production on the various parts for this particular concertina) Column 5: Serial number: 26908
  17. Are you trying to say that, because we realise that women were paid unfairly in the past, English boys' schools should no longer put on Shakespeare plays, because some of the boys would have to dress as women? (As Shakespeare's own actors did!) Sure, values have changed - but Shakespeare's plays seldom hinge on whether women get equal pay for equal work. Elizabethan actors, and modern actors in an all-male environment, did not dress as women to mock or parody them. It was acting, not travesty. Mummers and Morris men with blackened faces were around long before there were black English people. Disguise is central to a lot of ritual performance, and "evil be to him who evil thinks". Whoever gets the idea that such disguises are a mockery of another race must find that other race first and foremost worthy of mockery. No disagreement here. The values we are talking about didn't and don't change in reaction upon Shakespeare or Morris. On the other hand they can have a considerable impact on Shakespeare and Morris. If you try to protect Shakespeare and Morris by opposing those changes, you implicitly admit that Shakespeare is about men being more important than women, and Morris disguise is about mocking black people. I prefer to cherish the own values of Shakespeare and Morris within this changing environment. That's why I sympathize with this post by David_Bovery. Leonard
  18. Why, please? And now you can throw stones to me, if you want Cheers, Fer That's why: I don't like throwing stones. On this forum, I want to discuss concertina related stuff with you.
  19. Changing values are a fact of live. Fifty years ago it was common sense, that a man earned more money on the same job than a woman. And a hundred year ago women weren't considered fit to vote. You may agree or disagree, but these values have changed. I really do regret it if Morris is becoming victim of such changing values. But I think it's not a good idea to discuss these changing values here on C.net.
  20. Ah, but you would be playing it for our Edeophication, no? (By the way, it's properly Æolist, not Aeolist... says the man whose Danish keyboard makes it easy to get it "right". ) Alt-146 does it for me: Æ (and alt-145= æ)
  21. What for? And who is "we"? But all the same, if you need me, you know where to find me: just send a PM through C.net.
