So after reading some posts on another thread what about some concertina limericks?

You've just issued a very difficult challenge. "Concertina", being four syllables, does not fit the meter of a Limerick particularly well.

So; lets see what C.net members come up with.

Regards,

Peter.

There was a young lady from Ealing,

Who played on her squeezebox* with feeling.

There can be no doubt,

When the bellows came out,

She had all the young men a-reeling.

* a generic name for concertinas and other members of the free-reed family.

There was a young man who was meaner,

Than his girlfriend whose first name was Tina.

It can be no sin,

On a quiet night in,

Tina played on the old concertina.

There once was a silly old squeezer,

who couldn't play without sneezing, eugh.

So with a peg on his nose,

he stubbonly chose,

not to be a wheezer*

*I know that last bits rubbish

LDT gets us to spout

On topics we thought we'd worn out,

But she gives it a spin

And sucks us right in

And, presto! It's fresh as a sprout!

A concertina played aloud

For the pleasure of the crowd

The pennies fall into a hat

Player smiles thankful for that.

Little children dance a jig

The night sky full of stars

Parents drink and roast a pig

Young girls dance with tars

We've got a few of them on the review pages of our Northeast Squeeze-in reviews. Scroll to the bottom of this page and click on the links to the year's reviews. One of my favorites is:

A young lady who plays the Chemnitzer,

What a nightmare to find one that fits her!

On the pull she's okay,

Nothing gets in the way,

On the push, though, it nearly de-tits her.

Oops, sorry about that. Cross posts with the flurry of activity here. If you're worried about "clean" then DON'T look at our NESI review pages. Actually those that did make it to our review pages were often the more "timid" ones. A fair number of the entries the judges deemed not to be presentable even to the adult audience!

That's one of the reasons I got a concertina instead of a melodeon.

Well...mild innocent innuendo (Two Ronnies styleee) is ok...just nothing bawdy and explicit.

Remember there are ladies present. ;)

There was a young fellow called Morse

Who played on an Edgley, of course

He said "They cost more if you buy from a store,

But I get a trade discount from source"

Have you tried using this Forum's

facility?

This is hardly the first time we've tried verse and worse. :D

I play concertina for Morris,

And to help me in learning a chorus.

But it tends to unsettle

Those who like heavy metal;

They say, "Go away, kid; you bore us!"
