Randy Stein
Okay, I misspelled Lang in the title before posting and for the life of me can't find a way to correct. The site allows you to edit the posting but not the title. But you get the idea. My apologies. In the meantime...lets get everyone's version out there. Here are some I found on youtube including mine from a couple years ago. A history and back ground on the Old Song can be found http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auld_Lang_Syne . Spinningwoman
Listening to these, there seems to be two opinions on the opening few notes - does it go DGGGG or DGF#GG??? The former is how I think I sing it, but the second sounds right too.

Spinningwoman
You're quite right, I added in too many G's , the last in each case should be B.

My Version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lxa-vv7jlPE Nice idea, Randy! I like your hymnal version; here's mine (slightly more "folky" perhaps, a quick unpolished take after having completed today's work...). Happy New Year to all of you! Dirge
My Version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lxa-vv7jlPE rss Very nice (and very slick!) Randy but it reminds me irresistably of an early John Wayne film; can't remember exactly which but I think the US cavalry are waiting for the injuns to wipe them out tomorrow or something; there's some 'calm before the storm' evening shots and, as I remember it, you must have been playing just like this in the background. (It was probably really a harmonica really but you know how the mind plays tricks)
gcoover
And here's the version that's in my two books (same version in both, yes I know that's double-dipping, but a good tune can have many lives...): http://youtu.be/DU99vdLacn0 Gary
cboody
If I may be forgiven for not having one on concertina handy here are a couple of versions I've been involved with. The tune is the "other one" that Burns supposedly liked best. The instrumental version is a tag on another piece and uses guitar, flute, and hammered dulcimer. The vocal version is the closer from a concert we did recently and uses piano, flute, guitar and voices. Audience joins in at the choruses, but clearly they don't know this tune as well as the other I hope some of you will tackle this tune. It is truly lovely and I certainly like it better...maybe because when I hear the usual tune all I can hear is the Guy Lombardo Orchestra sax section (must be showing my age!). https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8n99idh6xmygdx7/OZJvwxjQVt Edited to add: I'll leave this up until the end of January. If you like them download them by then... Edited December 30, 2013 by cboody
JimLucas
Here are some I found on youtube including mine from a couple years ago. A history and back ground on the Old Song can be found http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auld_Lang_Syne . Interesting that it doesn't mention that the well known tune isn't "the original" chosen by Burns, considering the debates these days over which tune to use. But that's Wikipedia; it's not necessarily authoritative or complete, since it can be written and even rewritten by virtually anyone. My Version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lxa-vv7jlPE I like that the YouTube title says 2014, but your voice at the end says "2012". Auld Lang Syne, for sure. Darren Garvey ( this one is the most inventive!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6m9vXNp-oCQ Definitely. Had me looking for more stuff by him, but all I could find was percussion, either alone or backing others.

Auld Lang Syne, for sure. Yeah, I recorded it 2 years ago and redid the title. Didn't think about updating the video. More interested in other peoples versions. rss
