Irish, A Whole New World
Peter Stephenson replied to Chris Timson's topic in General Concertina Discussion
Chris's recollections remind me of a visit last summer at a session near Ennis when the young'uns began a set of reels, the old boy could be heared saying "Your playing it too fast now Mary, slowly, slowly. Which further reminds me of a road sign painted on the road before a sharp bend, 'SLOW'........ and even nearer the bend, 'SLOWER.. Pete. -
Bluegrass, A Whole New World
Peter Stephenson replied to Rhomylly's topic in General Concertina Discussion
Here the bluegrass musicians keep themselves to themselves as they have told me in the past only guitar, mandolin, 5-string banjo, and double bass are allowed, and it is usually women who play the double bass. There are a couple who come to the Sunday lunch session who only do Old Timey stuff but the woman insists that her screechy fiddle style is authentic. The man will play his guitar along with the Irish stuff put plays on the off beat bluegrass style. Perhaps its best if the different styles are kept apart . -
Ceiling Fans And Concertinas
Peter Stephenson replied to Michael Eskin's topic in General Concertina Discussion
Will the fluttering be affected by the distance the fan is below the ceiling ? if so it could be the note is partially reflected off a blade and partially off the ceiling, same as driving past a fence with the window down. -
First you have to find a bag big enough to play inside.

I maybe getting jumpy here but there has appeared an item number 3749240248 a crabb serial number 17488. Ok it may be genuine, but the seller specifies the condition as 'used' which I have only coe across once before, user ID kept private, but with 3 sales, as I said before I may be jumping the gun.. -

A thousand welcomes fuzzy-tina. the footbass looks an awsome piece of kit, although if used at pub sessions its bound to get full up with spilled beer. Perhaps I could train my border collie "Finn" to play one, we would make millions busking round the festivals.. Pete.

Just found this link http://www.concertinaconnection.com/footbass.htm over on "The Session" site posted by 'Fuzzy-Tina. Dont think he is a member here, but the link has some treasures to behold indeed. Pete.

When the weather is likeit has been recently try leaving the loft door open, this causes the warm air to be sucked out of the house and discharged through the eaves, (only to be replaced by more warm air but its fresher).

Concertinas In The Movies
Peter Stephenson replied to Animaterra's topic in General Concertina Discussion
Whenever I try to play my concertina in the movies I get thrown out. Yes there was a thread a while ago when it was recalled that in the Bob Hope film Paleface, or was it Son of paleface ? Bob seranaded Jane Russel in a stage coach with Buttons and bows, and some wag pointed out that with the title and all there should have been a fiddle in there too, geddit ? -

Keith Moon And His Concertina
Peter Stephenson replied to David Barnert's topic in General Concertina Discussion
Dont think the song has much to do with musical instruments. The Who Squeeze Box lyrics Mama's got a squeeze box She wears on her chest And when Daddy comes home He never gets no rest 'Cause she's playing all night And the music's all right Mama's got a squeeze box Daddy never sleeps at night Well the kids don't eat And the dog can't sleep There's no escape from the music In the whole damn street 'Cause she's playing all night And the music's all right Mama's got a squeeze box Daddy never sleeps at night She goes in and out and in and out and in and out and in and out She's playing all night And the music's all tight Mama's got a squeeze box Daddy never sleeps at night She goes, squeeze me, come on and squeeze me Come on and tease me like you do I'm so in love with you Mama's got a squeeze box Daddy never sleeps at night She goes in and out and in and out and in and out and in and out 'Cause she's playing all night And the music's all right Mama's got a squeeze box Daddy never sleeps at night ??? -
