JimLucas
...I have a strange complaint that causes me to break out in a mild rash whenever I conglomerate. In the past I've seen some corporate takeovers described as "rash", but it never occurred to me that that was what they meant.
Robin Madge
Conglomerates ? Are we talking on a geological time scale here ? Just because Jim is in a strata all of hi own ? (All sorts of puns on Dip-pers and hade-nds expected). Robin Madge
Helen
Chris, Rashes welcome. Yeah I know, you were trying to get out of it. No such luck. You have to actually say you don't want in. We want you. Robin, You can come too. After all you bring 90 uh votes with you. Jim, Sail away. And to be really international, plus fun, we need Samantha and Sharron and Morgana. And you know Rhomylly counts for 2 people now. Oh but we are doing posts. Can the baby to be, point and click? Helen
JimLucas
Conglomerates ? Are we talking on a geological time scale here ? Sedimentary, my dear Power Child. Just because Jim is in a strata all of hi own ? "Stratum!" (The language police are watching you.) What kind of rock is "wheat stone"? Metamorphic, I guess. Don't take it for granite; it's very gneiss.
JimLucas
Well, maybe I can wait for 2000 before I mark my progress here, again. Guess what? Number 2000! I guess I have cut back a little, though, since I'm 11 days late on John Wild's estimate of Aug. 7. Well, I guess it's time to go do something useful. Edited to add: And still a "Heavyweight Boxer". I really must get serious about that diet. Edited August 18, 2004 by JimLucas

JimLucas
Guess what? Number 2000! Funny that I didn't notice it at the time, but I just realized that my 2000th post closed my first year on the new Forum. Joined Aug. 19, 2003. 2000th post Aug. 18, 2004. That's 365 days later, thanks to leap year. Somehow, I don't think that will get me into the Guiness book of records. In fact, it probably won't even earn me a pint of the stuff, though my playing sometimes does.

JimLucas
Oops! This is #2100. Hey, no fair! I recently lost 10 kg, and I'm still listed as a "Heavyweight Boxer". Edited September 15, 2004 by JimLucas
Chris Timson
I guess Ken has set you a big target to achieve, with all the added tension of not knowing what it is. If there's no change when you hit 10,000 then it's probably time to worry. Chris

JimLucas
Ouch! This is my post #2500. I really need to cut back. Edited same day (Dec. 2, 2004) to note: Hey, I got a new blue box! (Don't know about the title, though. Shouldn't it be "Opinionated"? ) In response to the curious: I'm tempted to remain totally mysterious, but instead, a teasing "explanation". 2500 looks nice. New level seems a good place to rest. New title deserves philosophical contemplation. "Silence" is an experiment. (Personal emails may still get response, though no guarantee.) Chris Timson
PS you have to add the contributions of the next five list members before you exceed 2500 (as of this posting the total for the five of us is 2603). Chris
Steven
Wow, Jim, that's really quite a title! I'll certainly try not to eluct you in the future. Steven
Michael Reid
I'll admit, I had to look up "ineluctable." Ineluctable: Not to be avoided or escaped; inevitable. I suspect this bit of cleverness is one of the fruits of Ken's forced layover.
