Tam Paynter
Would appreciate help dating my newly purchased Wheatstone Aola 56 key treble concertina serial # probably 36532 I looked in the ledgers without success. Came with “Price List of Wheatstone English Concertinas” dated 1829-1929 thank you in advance.

Tam Paynter
Malcolm- thank you - I am astonished. If I am reading the ledger correctly this concertina dates to 1859. That’s awesome and humbling. The bellows are stiff but it plays like a songbird. I’m in love.
Theo
Malcolm appears to have missed the least “3” from the serial number. this is the page you want: http://www.horniman.info/DKNSARC/SD03/PAGES/D3P0910S.HTM
Leonard
Theo and Malcolm refer to the same page in the ledger. Serial number 36532 is a amboyna ended model 5E, dated 16-2-1959. (Not 1859)
Tam Paynter
Thanks for the help. I did not read the ledger correctly the first time. She’s beautiful.

Stephen Chambers
7 hours ago, Tam Paynter said: Can you tell me what 5E means? Here's a c.1956 Wheatstone catalogue, with the specifications of the different models then available, for your perusal. Amboyna-wood was a de-luxe finish. The amboyna-finished Aeola on the front cover is a larger 64-key tenor-treble version of yours, model number 10E.

Not so mysterious. Of every page in the ledgers there is a small and a large representation. In this case their addresses are: .../PAGES/D3P0910S.HTM .../PAGES/D3P0910L.HTM
