alex_holden
Just finished my latest wood carving project, a concertina-playing angel in the style of the roof bosses in Tewkesbury Abbey[1]. It is a belated Christmas present for my mother, who collects angel figurines. Wolf Molkentin
Impressive work, Alex! Besides, I always take my time beneath those bosses and figures showing music-makers, such as in Exeter cathedral... Best wishes - Wolf
alex_holden
Thanks Wolf! There is such a wide range of instruments in Tewkesbury's angel orchestra, I feel sure the masons would have included a concertina player had they been invented a few centuries earlier. Peter Laban
I am sure you are aware of the concertina playing angel in Bath Minster. Edited February 23, 2015 by Peter Laban

Can't tell from the front view. Chris
alex_holden
I daren't say for fear of starting a religious war... (In truth, there isn't enough side detail to tell. Because it's a relief carving the depth is compressed, which makes the proportions look out of whack if you view it from the side.)
JimLucas
I daren't say for fear of starting a religious war... I can well understand that, as some of us are A-theists, other E-theist or D-theist, and there are even a few who put their hands together in attempts to influence a variety of spirits. We wouldn't want the draw of a particular belief to tempt any of our members to press others to leave their current fold. (And I've heard that some of our members even stray "outside the box".) We certainly don't want the EC-umenicals falling out with the Anglicans.
