Steven
Bob, that's a mighty pretty instrument. I'm just curious, though, what about #1 didn't make the cut? Steven
Bob Tedrow
After I had cut the fretwork, I decided to change the button layout. And I did not like the black finish that much at any rate. And I have retired that particular fretwork pattern anyway. And I wanted to use some of the new burled maple veneer. So, I deep sixed the first effort, except for the bellows which were fine. Sometimes you have to make the hard decisions. Bob
Steven
Well gee heck, Bob, you could have just given it to me instead of throwing it away! I promise I wouldn't have sold it! Steven
David Barnert
I asked this question when I saw your note on the squeezebox newsgroup but see no reply there or here: Can you give us a button diagram? Is the low note C or Bb (or Ab)? Same low note (but for the octave) on left and right? Thanks.
Bob Tedrow
I do not have a handy fingerchart to upload just yet, the low note is a "C" Bob
David Barnert
Based on your photos and the information that the low note is C, this looks to be it. LEFT HAND || RIGHT HAND || Bb C || Bb C D F G A B || F G A B C# Bb (C) D E F# G# || Bb C D E F# G# F G A B C# D# || F G A B C# D# C D E F# G# || (C) D E F# G# C# D# || C# D# || (5th Finger) (Thumb) || (Thumb) (5th Finger) =====WRIST STRAP======== || =====WRIST STRAP======== (C) = middle C (both hands). Is it right? It's the standard 46 plus low C# D# on each side and high Bb C on the left. I would have thought a B in the same range as the added C# D# (at least on the right) would have been a valuable addition. Is it right? Quite an impressive looking box! Good basic range too though I personally would have more use for a high C# than the high Bb and C on the left side. How large is it? Bob Tedrow
I have had a great time playing this concertina, I will miss it when it is shipped off to it's new owner. This is the first Hayden system that I have had a chance to spend any big amount of time playing. It only took an hour or so to knock out major and minor scales in several keys. Chords are great fun, I am a closed position guitar player, the mindset is similar. My compliments to Mr. Hayden for the idea. I will be adding this instrument to the Tedrow line up and am currently taking orders and deposits for delivery around November or December. I hope the new owner is pleased with the results of our collaborative effort. Perhaps we can get a review from him in the near future.
