  1. Hi Luke, my Lachenal is a 30 button C/G. Good idea but due the lack of available repair people in Australia I would need to send it overseas, and I'd rather be without a concertina for an extended period (shipping, waiting lists etc). I took the plunge and I'm now on the Crook concertina waiting list (18 months plus), so now I just need to be patient (argh! lol)
  2. This clip is from a late 1980s episode of the Australian music show "Countdown". The guy with the concertina is Molly Meldrum, one of the regular hosts and a stable of Australian music journalism at that time. The whole thing is meant to be satirical dig at the cultural melting pot of Australia in the 1980s. And no, it has not aged well. We've come a long way since then, but still have a way to go.
  3. I'm also on the waiting list for a Crook Concertina... was told "around 18 months) so could be a big longer but I think it will definitely be worth the wait! A huge thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts and experiences about this lovely concertinas, really helpful.
  4. Dear Hoping for a Bigger Cushion Perhaps you could tell her that you love it so much could you please have another one in a bigger, fuller size, so you have one for the seat and one for your back....
  5. @Oberon Thank you, very helpful. I love my Lachenal but would love to have more choices for C# and F# in the higher octaves.
  6. Thanks, l didn’t know this. The sites l’ve researched so far didn’t mention this on their sites. 😊
  7. Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere (I did do a search ) I am looking for a C/G Anglo with a Jefferies layout but don't think I will ever be able to afford one, so I wondered if there are any makers of new instrument anyone could recommend that are making C/G Anglos with this layout? I have a lovely C/G Lachanel and I'd really like to have the extra options the Jefferies layout provides. All help appreciated.
  8. I have ordered this book from Amazon and waiting for delivery (ETA Wednesday, fingers crossed) @gcoover Thanks again for making this possible
  9. It is effectively the CD Rom with an index html files that leads to a series of other html documents, all with embedded links to the sound and files.
  10. Yes still going strong I am very much looking forward to the Chris Droney book. My only crit with that one is that it doesn't sit flat on the music stand. So I hope you don't mind, I bought a second copy and rebound it with comb binding so it now sits flat. I normally hate to alter my books, but I know this one will get a lot of use! I have your Anglo-German concertina social history books on my wish list and I'll definitely look out for your new one later this year.
  11. I bought a printed copy of this wonderful book (l always prefer a printed copy to an ebook). @Dan Worrall really knows to turn a phrase, the book is great reading and l am having trouble putting it down! So a big thanks to Dan for this excellent and very enjoyable book. Highly recommended! I have his book on Chris Droney sitting on the shelf to read next! 😊
