  2. Greg.....Bob's last name (surname) is.....TEDROW. Here is a link to the great concertina builder's webiste: http://hmi.homewood.net/#Concertinas Bob is a perfectionist...he may wish to be remembered one day as Bob Tedrow...not Tedlow. Bob is generous in sharing his knowledge, experience and time. Good luck with your project.

  6. The wooden ended Wheatstone is sold to a member of this forum. A donation will be ass soon as money is received. I have posted two other concertinas as available for sale in a separate post. Thank you.
  7. The concertina in question is a Model 7A Wheatstone made on January 12, 1968. It is an octagonal (eight sided) concertina. The reeds are steel reeds set in aluminum frames. The reedpan is dovetailed allowing the reeds to slide in an out of dovetailed grooves. Here is a YouTube video clip of Koot Brits playing a Model 7a Wheatstone C/G made in 1960.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOYN0N_9TCI Although the 1960's were not Wheatstone Co.'s best years....they did build good Model 7a 40 button concertina (in my own opinion). To buy a real modern 2013 Steve Dickinson Wheatstone C/G 40 button expect to pay around GBP 7600 sterling....or nearly $13,000 without the 18% VAT included.....oh, yes....and the long waiting time.....I am waiting already 5 years.

  12. Your new Bocote wood.....Heritage Model concertina looks beautiful! Would you allow people to come to Windsor to try out one of your Heritage models? I am sure that it will be worth the drive from Toronto to Windsor.
  13. Nico van Rensburg passed away a few months ago. He played the concertina for more than 55 years. Many Boer Music tunes that are composed have no words to them and are meant to be enjoyed while dancing with your loved one.....some tunes are fast and some are slow. Welcome to the world of Boer Music...

  16. I just received news from Greg Jowaisas that my one Linota which I thought was a C/G.....is actually a C# / G#. He advised me not to have it retuned to a C/G. If you know anyone who is interested in a Wheatstone Linota C# / G# 30 button concertina from 1929...then send me a PM. I am having a 40 button C/G concertina built for me by Colin Dipper and I will need to sell my Linota to partially fund the new Dipper concertina.

  18. Thank you for posting this news, Dan. It is a great loss when someone who preserves music history and culture passes away..including Wilhelm Schulz. I have met some good friends and concertina players among the Boer Music Gild. There has been several excellent Boer concertina players who have passed away recently and others are facing health problems.

  23. I have played Paul's konsertina and it is indeed in excellent condition. I have a new Koot Brits concertina myself and it plays very well. Koot's concertina construction technique has improved a lot over the past few years. This concertina is well constructed and its price is very affordable and fair. Here is a video clip of Koot Brits playing a brand new anglo concertina he made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCP8OSo4OfY Here is another video clip of a Koot Brits 40 button C/G anglo being played by a happy owner: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsoEpNKAFJs
  24. The case is now closed! Greg Jowaisas makes the best concertina cases in North America. This "judge" owns three of them. I settle my case....Greg is also the consumate gentleman who not only tunes and repairs concertinas...but he is always friendly and willing to answer any concertina related questions I have.
