  4. Here is a link to YouTube videos clip of my new Wim Wakker W-A5 Concertina Bb/F played by Koot Brits of Pretoria, South Africa. The Wakker concertina was completed in August. Koot Brits also builds nice concertinas and was kind enough to play two nice Boer Music tunes on this beautiful instrument: First, Verlee Wals (translated....Embarrased or blushing waltz): http://www.youtube.c...h?v=63u6LUDw7zs Second, Soutpansberg Setees: http://www.youtube.c...n_order&list=UL I thoroughly enjoy playing my Wakker concertina. Wim did an excellent job in building this concertina. The sound that it makes is excellent. The action is fast. The bellows are very supple and handle the air pressure well. Many of my friends in South Africa have commented that this concertina is visually stunning with its Amboyna veneer and gilded ends. Overall, I can honestly say that I am very happy with Wim Wakker's concertina.

  11. Instrument sold instantly on ebay. Thank you.
  12. Our "friend" Gpanda is over optimistic as usual with his prices. His prices are in GBP Sterling.....not dollars! Over $10,750.00 and $12,000 respectively! The recession must be over in Dublin.
  13. How about a cure for "concertina fingers".....your fingers twitching nervously with withdrawal symptoms.....you find yourself playing an invisible concertina and can not wait until you get your hands on your favourite 'tina....
  14. Mark Davies' asking price is much more reasonable for a 40 button Wheatstone Anglo than "Gpanda" of Dublin, Ireland. Mark's character and reputation is impeccable. I would deal with Mark anyday......not the other person.
  15. Well done, Dave! I thoroughly enjoyed your concertina playing as well as your singing!
  16. Excellent article! I also enjoyed the video clip of you (Frank) playing a wonderful tune.....excuse my ignorance but what is the name of that tune?
  17. This concertina is sold.
  18. Well done! I really enjoyed listening to the "Snowflakes" and the French song. The guitar and concertina playing was excellent.
  19. Too bad it is not an anglo....say, 40 buttons C/G . The owner states that the current waiting time is 4 years for a new one.....that is an optimistic statement.
  20. I have listed my "Wifra" C/G 40 button anglo for sale on ebay. This concertina was made by Willie van Wyk of South Africa. This concertina was refurbished by Wim Wakker in January. Wim installed a new rivited action along with valves and pads. The reeds were reset, voiced and tuned. The reeds have brass frames. This attractive instrument is ideal for singing accompaniement. Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130501950677&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT I prefer selling of ebay and if its is sold to a member of this forum then a donation will be made to Concertina.net (c/o Paul Schwartz).
  21. Hallo Jood, your concertina #53160 was made between 1948 to 1950 and the other one #54183 was made in 1951. Unfortunately the Wheatstone ledger's pages that record your two concertinas are missing so we can not determine the exact date they were made. I would encourage you to contact the Boeremusiek Gilde on Facebook for help from fellow Boere Musiek players. For further information check out the following sites: http://kalie.boeremusiek.net/ http://www.boeremusiek.org.za/ Rosie Potegieter, wife of the late Nic Potgieter, sells Boeremusiek lessons with cassettes, which will help you learn the top 50 Boeremusiek tunes step by step. (The lessons include note diagrams, major chords, minor chords, runs etc.) I will send you a Personal Message with further advice.
  22. I have added a link to a YouTube video clip of the concertina I am selling.
