  1. Hi Edward...In addition to the West Country concertina assoc that meets around Somerset, theres a group of musicians who play fairly regularly around Taunton that have a couple of concertinas(one anglo) who would probably welcome another player. Is that too far for you? regards Robin Also if you're interested in Morris, check out Great Western,an Exeter side, they have a big band band(if you see what I mean)
  2. Goran...I think you're on the right track.Looking at the Wheatstone ledgers, there is a notation "rails, duet straps".Having played this Aeola,it's really hard to understand how they could help though....they are only 2mm thick. It would be interesting to look at them from the inside,to see if they are covering something ,perhaps. regards Robin
  3. The rail is on both sides.I'm trying to add aphoto but it's not "taking" Jill,its a nice,quite loud aeola.I'm sure he'll ship.Emailhim direct.Robin
  4. A friend of mine has just put a nice Aeola for sale on ebay.Attached below the keys ,on each side is a piece of plastic type material that according to the Wheatstone ledgers were factory fitted and called "rails" At first blush,it would seem obvious that they were fitted to protect the area from the hand that often causes wear .However its not really in the right area....wear is usually closer the edge.Strengthening ?? Unlikely. Any information /ideas. It was originally a Sally Army instrument. Robin
  5. Got it...I was saving the small image not the expanded one.So simple when you know what you're doing!! Thanks again Robin
  6. Thank you ,Jim....almost worked like a charm.I saved it as per instructions but in my printing program,Photo Printing Wizard, there appears to be no distortion removal option. Thus as its magnified from a thumb-nail its very fuzzy I just went over it with a pencil. Robin
  7. Ken...thanks for posting this again. However I've tried to print it out and it only seems to print about 2/3 rds of it.Is it my printer or does it do this to your PC too ? Thanks Robin
  8. Embarrassing....wrong photo.Could have been worse i suppose.Lets try this one !!
  9. Just returned from England where I picked up a Wheatstone tenor/treble Aeola from Chris Algar. This is a pic. of me showing my nephew the concertina.Look carefully at him .Can you see how his little face is just beaming with pleasure and wonder(.......wonder how much longer this can go on for, perhaps?) There is hope for the next generation. Robin
  10. Peter...I don't think it's fair to shoot the guy down because of his logo.Is someone who has an Aeola logo capable of better reseach ? Anyway , after William Kimber , Homer Simpson is a particular role model of mine Regards Robin
  11. I am musician for the Toronto Morris men,so I guess that makes me a "Morris type". I've really tried to model my playing on Kimber. As someone who also dances , he seems to give all the "information" I need and the drive he imparts to the music comes from really punchy left hand chords. The EFDSS CD mentioned above is also good to play along to if you have a C/G anglo....helps get the crispness. Regards Robin
