  1. The English Country Music Weekend for 2003 was held at High Bradfield near Sheffield. One of the features of the weekend was a celebration of concertina music in many forms.A unique concert took place featuring Anahata(Anglo)Dave Ball(English)Iris Bishop(McCann Duet)Pam Bishop(McCann Duet)Roger Digby(Anglo)Will Duke(Anglo)Mike Hebbert(Jeffries Duet)Harry Lithreland(McCann Duet)Chantel Noppen(English)Graham Pratt(English)Harry Scurfield(Anglo) & Reuben Shaw(McCann Duet) Barry Callaghan of Garland Films has produced an 80 minute video of the concert.I have four copies of the vidoe left in VHS format and no more copies will be produced. The cost of the video including postage and packing within the United Kingdom is £14.I have been told that to play the video in the former colonies requires it to be converted to another format. Orders to me Mark Davies Email:edeophone@aol.com Home Tel:0114 2851479 Mobile:07850475067
  2. I remember attending either the first or second Mrs Crotty Weekend where Harry Bradshaw gave a most interesting talk on the concertina in Irish traditional music. He played us the first known recording of a concertina player in Ireland who was a an English concertina player from Dublin.Harry was I believe the person who first released the complete recordings of William Mullaly on his Via Voice label so was in a position to to know the facts.I understand this is no longer available which is a pity as a lot of people would be interested in purchasing the recordings.Authentic Irish traditional music should therefore be played on the English concertina not the Anglo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Try: Anthony Griffin Mountain Stage Glenbeigh Kerry Ireland Tel:00353669768163 He's made me two double concertina cases. They are very strong;I've been known to sit on them in a session and they are very reasonably priced. He will make them to your specifications.Anthony makes all sorts of cases and is often seen at fleadhs and festivals selling cases from the back of his car.Highly recommended.
  4. With a bit of luck and a following wind Mike Hebbert(and many other fine concertina players) will be performing at the 2005 Bradfield Traditional Music Weekend. This will take place on the 13th,14th & 15th August 2005.Email me for details: edeophone@aol.com
  5. I have some original Alf Edwards recordings made when I think he was playing with The Haymakers Country Dance Band in the 1950'2.They were made by the BBC so I presume they are recordings of actual broadcasts. These were left to me following the death my good friend Harry Hatton of Haydock,Lancashire the great concertina enthusiast.I would gladly make them available, subject to the consent of the copyright holder being obtained(I presume this would be the BBC.

  7. Referring to previous threads, here we have clear evidence that I do resemble a"constipated ferret"when playing the concertina.A friend of mine always says I look as if I am cheweing a wasp when I play! Many thanks Peter for highlighting these pictures.I will try to return the compliment!!! I would recommend a visit to the Mrs Crotty concertina weekend at least once in your life.It has become a "the"gathering place for concertina players, even those who do not necessarily play in the Irish style. The dates next year are the 18th to the 21st August(its a long weekend).
