  1. Is the c5 on the right hand side working on the pull? That seems quite inconsistent?
  2. @Jack Campin: You think Milligan is bad in the whole concert or just on this bit? I really like what he does and his bashing is hardly "random". I also like the interaction between the players, they really seem to be having fun. Cheers, i
  3. Yes, that first one is the tune Jody. Thanks for the help. I'll have to sharpen my google skills... Thanks for all comments, p
  4. Noone? Is there another good forum where people could advise me? Any help welcome folks, p
  5. I'm looking at the impressive concert by Thoumire & Milligan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-umcFGkMkC4 There's a triple of songs starting at 7:48 in the concert: "The bonny lass of Fisherrow", "Love in a Village" and "The Ballachulish walkabout". I'm not really finding much information about the "Love in a Village" except for an opera: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_in_a_Village Is that piece from that opera? Anyone have any more information? Thanks in advance, p
  6. I'm playing Scottish Urbaine and some other Scottishes in a folk band. The accents should be on 2 and 4 in that genre and I have a hard time achieving that on the concertina at that speed. Is it feasible to achieve on the english that the same way melodeon players can? Does anybody have a link or reference to a concertina player that does that? P.
  7. Something that I always wondered about the Mccann's. Why is the layout not symmetrical going up a column e.g. on the right hand side, column 3 you have A,E,A,E and then suddenly B,E,B... What is the rational of changing the layout? Best Wishes, i
  8. I'm in Belgium and I have a hohner AC 3060 for sale that plays pretty well. I don't know how close you are to the border but I need to be in Antwerp in the weekend at least once a month. If you're interested p.m. we can set up a skype call for a first evaluation and take it from there. Immanuel
  9. Don't let them waste their youth on sports!
  10. How does one make a donation to concertina.net? Is there a paypal account? What is the appropriate amount?
  11. Peacock is still sitting on a shelf here.
  12. I usually play along with a real recording using Transcribe. That will allow me to slow down the tempo if it's too fast and drop or raise the pitch. It's great for transcribing but for practicing too. I can't see the benefit of playing along with ABC, Midi or any of those formats when better tools are available. p
  13. Nice playing and arrangement. The concertina sounded rather prominent in the mix but looked like he was straining to hear himself... was that the case? p
  14. On hold for https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KU1X3Wut-k0 Regards, p
  15. Hi Sean, Layout is standard 30 key Jeffries. I prefer setting up a google+ chat to show you the instrument and let you hear it. That's mainly cause I know where my webcam is, I have no idea where my camera is, nor the usb thingy that let's me attach it to the computer and I'm on Linux and I alway have to figure out how gcamera works.... Regards, p
  16. As new, to finance some other concertina related purchases: Peacock Special with black finish. Asking price 2200 euro. I'll post pictures later, interested parties can come and try it out or arrange for a skype or google+ call. Pictures on demand.
  17. I'm selling my Edgley professional model, located in Belgium. Asking for 1750 euro. * Professional model with angled reedpan * Traditional design * C/G * Custom-fitted case Serial number 378, am the first owner. It's in perfect condition, but I'm playing my Kensington mostly and am close to getting a Suttner. I
  18. Excellent job! Pity 'bout the e in measure 100. i
  19. Yeah, I know it starts only from C, but I'm just wondering if there is such a difference. There's also this one which is also smaller, but doesn't boast such a loud sound: http://www.wakker-concertinas.com/E-3.htm I can't understand why the removal of 5 notes on the bottom changes the loudness, that's why I'm asking. I'd rather get a loud 37 key instrument starting from G.
  20. One guy is playing ullean pipes, the other ones I don't know the name of I, probably some flemish/belgian variant. I can ask. They're loud. I have a wheatstone treble and a tenor treble Aeola. Qua loudness they aren't up to my Kensington...
  21. Well there is this one on the Wakker site: http://www.wakker-concertinas.com/E-4.htm " Because of the design, it is much louder than playing the same pitch on a standard 48 key instrument. The sound is bright." Anybody any experience with that instrument?
