Dave Rogers
Come to think of it, most TV theme tunes sound pretty awful on any instrument... Well, I posted one on YouTube a while back. "Fawlty Towers" is an honourable exception to the rule, being not so much a TV show as an iconic celebration of all that is great about modern English cynicism, world-weariness, sarcasm and misanthropy. IMHO, of course.
wally
For instance I do a rendition of the Eastenders theme tune, should I be publicly flogged. The Eastenders theme is just a variation on the C major scale, so many people may have come close to playing it unwittingly. Yeah that's the excuse I use too. Jim Besser
Back on topic, how about the theme from the 70s cop show "Van der Valk" ("High Level")? That sounds incredibly cheesy on the concertina. Come to think of it, most TV theme tunes sound pretty awful on any instrument... I've taken to playing the theme to "Gilligan's Island" as a getting-them-on-and-off-the-stage tune for Morris dancers when one is required, and I've played the Mickey Mouse Club theme tune for Northwest dancers during parades, when I get bored with the more usual fare. Audiences enjoy it, when they get it, which usually they don't. Edited December 24, 2008 by Jim Besser

It took a minute, but they laughed and said no thanks.
