Ptarmigan
Why is this seller using a photo nicked from our website, here? Here's the eBay Concertina: 30 Button Bastari Concertina, 8 Bellows. VGC & here's the page here with the photo: By Ken Coles, Logansport, Indiana U.S.A Am I missing something? Dieppe
They were too lazy to take a picture of their own instrument?
Bill N
Why is this seller using a photo nicked from our website, here? Am I missing something? Cheers Dick Charitable: (S)he doesn't have a digital camera, so Googled for an image of the same model. Jaded: A scammer with $ signs in his/her eyes. I have to say that recent threads on Buy-Sell make me glad I'm not reliant on E-bay for an instrument! Edited November 12, 2008 by Bill N
Dirge
Well unless Ken tells us he's sold his, we know for sure they're liars anyway. 'This is my concertina etc...'
Marien
Could Ken be the one (s)he is selling the concertina for (quote: A friend of mine played it...)
Chris Drinkwater
Could Ken be the one (s)he is selling the concertina for (quote: A friend of mine played it...) Well, it's beyond my ken and at £800, a tad expensive for what it is. Chris
Ken_Coles
I wouldn't ask more than 100 quid for it unrestored, and it isn't for sale; I still have it. Damn sods! Do I need to complain to ebay or has one of you done it? I've had an image stolen once before by someone in Oz supposedly selling a concertina and after I complained the sale vanished and then reappeared with a new photo. I later heard a claim that it was a real sale. Perhaps, but I wouldn't trust a seller too foolish to use an accurate photo rather than steal one without permission. Dirge
But why not steal a pic of something worth the asking price? Maybe there is a real Bastari concertina, perhaps a bit shabbier?
SteveP
Maybe a clue - the sellers account has not been used for over two years, so possibly a stolen i.d.?
Ptarmigan
Reported to ebay. Ken Ken, I notice this Concertina is still for sale on eBay! So if it has been reported to eBay as a little suspicious, can we assume that eBay have now checked it out & believe this to be a genuine sale? Ken_Coles
All of you have more experience with what gets action from ebay than I have. My impression is that a stolen photo was a no-no for them. My impression is also that it takes a while for ebay to act, if they even get around to it. I suppose anyone who bids 800 pounds for a Bastari is pretty uninformed anyway. Ken

Marien
It is still there (19 nov). Maybe ebay does not take action before more reports have been received. I reported today as well. Let's see if it helps. Cheers, Marien Reported to ebay. Ken Ken, I notice this Concertina is still for sale on eBay! Marien
...good old ebay...Marien Not the phrase I'd have used... Ebay is an advertiser, and if you want to buy or sell things, you can use it as an advertiser, nothing wrong with that. But you are right and I was cynical. Some say synicysm is an unpleasant way to tell the truth. The thruth is that ebay is worse then it was in the beginning (for example not allowing sellers to give negative feed back). Another truth here is that it is a good thing that ebay took it off. But I agree that `good old ebay` is an overqualification.
