Bassconcertina.net
Hello, I am wondering if it is possible to savage old concertina/accordion reed valves and make them like new without replacing them.

Theo
As a temporary fix you can get a valve a bit flatter by gently stroking the surface with the flat blade of a screwdriver or similar tool. It slightly stretches the top surface which can straighten out a curved valve. Useful as a quick fix in the field, but may curl again soon. Matthew Heumann
This will sound very strange, but a few times when I was short of valve materials, I flipped them over and they worked pretty well until I could get new ones. However this only works on valves with their length curved up, not on valves folded down the center, or otherwise misshapened. Again, its just a temporary fix, but I've had some last years.
