wes williams
Assuming Bumbling Boris & Co don't find a way of stopping it? And what about the 70 year anniversary of the foundation of the ICA in July/August of 2022?

Tracy
This is a way to celebrate the ICA’s 70. What could be better than every concertina playing and making music to celebrate both the ICA 70th and Charles Wheatstone birthday. Showcasing what a wonderful instrument it is and hopefully playing this outside, (even possible during a lockdown by yourself and social distant safe) and possibly bringing it to a new audience/ could be beginner to this wonderful music making little box of tricks Wes?
wes williams
Tracy - Don't assume I'm against this because my reply wasn't peppered with Emojis 😁. The ICA were documenting (and celebrating) that they were founded in 1953 from at least 1984, until the correct date was established around 20 years ago, so Colin won't take a little reminder about another important 2022 concertina anniversary wrongly. No worries, Wes, the plan is to drip feed the announcements out when they are ready.
Daniel Hersh
More info now available at https://concertina.org/world-concertina-day ! The ICA encourages everyone with an interest in the concertina to participate on February 6, 2022 or on that weekend by taking part in or organizing an event in your local area. Some ideas: Gatherings of concertina players Live public concert performances by concertina groups or individual performers Events such as “concertina flash mobs” that lend themselves to social media publicity and local media interest Live workshop events featuring concertinas Local or national radio/TV interviews by concertina people Display or demonstration of the concertina at your local museum, library or community centre Sharing a recording of yourself or telling your social media friends about your interest in the concertina Any events could be pre-recorded and posted online on the day ….or anything else you can think of! If you would like to take part, have ideas, or would like to discuss any aspect of World Concertina Day, please contact us at WCD@concertina.org! Daniel Hersh
The International Concertina Association's World Concertina Day (February 6, 2022 - less than two months away) is looking good! We'll have an all-star video concert available for viewing starting on that day, including new performances from Rob Harbron, Jody Kruskal, Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne, Caitlin nic Gabhann, Paul McCann and many others. Local events on or near that day have been confirmed for Berkeley in California and for Hampshire, Sussex and Bedford in England, as well as a museum display in Somerset, England. Players in the eastern half of the US and Canada are putting together a compilation of video performances. Two US players (Randy Stein on English and Janet Dows on Anglo) are planning concert performances. You can get more information about any of these by contacting us at wcd@concertina.org. More events are being discussed but have not yet been confirmed. If you're not involved in any of these, consider putting on one of your own! There's a list of possibilities on our World Concertina Day web page. And World Concertina Day merchandise (T-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs and more!) is now available for purchase from sites for the UK/EU and the USA and Canada. Check it out!
