Chris Timson
This is, I'm afraid, not a job for anyone save an expert. Reeds are remarkably easy to ruin, and represent more than half the value of your concertina. I suggest you contact someone listed here, the Makers and Repairers section of the Concertina FAQ. Chris Ghent
Taking solder off a reed is actually quite straightforward (ie. heat it with a soldering iron and it will run off, make sure it doesn't run into the gap between the reed and shoe), but will almost certainly leave you in a position where you will have to tune and set the reed, which is not quite as straightforward. What's the bigger picture here? Did someone convert a C/G to Bf/F or G/D by solder? Chris
JimLucas
Taking solder off a reed is actually quite straightforward (ie. heat it with a soldering iron and it will run off,... Can't you also destroy the temper of the reed if you get the it too hot? And isn't the expertise that lets you safely avoid that calamity something that comes with experience? I know that's an expertise I don't have. That's one "repair" I would prefer to leave to the pros.

Stephen Chambers
its a Jeffries anglo Bazza, Are you talking about just a handful of the low reeds in your Jeffries ? If so it is probably totally original, and correct, as Jeffries made them like that. Cheers,
