  1. MELLIFLUON-MELLIFLUODEON - GO see unaccompanied violin discussion......
  2. Let's just say he wasn't doing what people (including Paddy Murphy) imagined... MELLIFLUON-MELLIFLUODEON - GO see unaccompanied violin discussion......
  3. But nobody so far called it "inferior". Saying that two door car has two doors doesn't make it "inferior". But it is valuable observation as there are people who need four doors. MELLIFLUON-MELLIFLUODEON BUILD ME ONE PLEASE? A challenge for Geoff / Theo/ Dave/ Chris/ Mike & all the machine masters to move positively beyond the Violin/Tina/'odeon/Organ debate? (as a free project of course - don't want to know the price!) PS you heard that new word MELLIFLUODEON here first! go see: Composer reinvents the piano‎ - 13 hours ago The fluid piano has generated much interest since it was first mentioned in the Guardian six years ago – when it was Smith with little more than a one-key ... http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/nov/23/composer-fluid-piano-geoff-smith
  4. Dirge - BORROW AN H2 OR H4 There must be some local school/college/music group using one - just do a local web search - they would be pleased for you to go along with a (camera) SD (512MB) card, plug in, play and then take card home and listen on your PC and play with Audacity... I can ask about through another techie forumn with NZ members if it is not too late....
  5. hUDD CONTEMPOARY MUSIC FESTIVAL Nov 20 to 29 - http://www.hcmf.co.uk/
  6. In case soome havent seen this, and note, he discovered it with some other squeezeboxes - praps bandoneon, tinas http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/nov/18/accordion-jexper-holmen-huddersfield-festival Nov 20 to 29 - http://www.hcmf.co.uk/
  7. Letting it run free? Then if I'm in the neighbourhood, I might be able to catch it for myself? OK - so today is 19th and auction was 17th - did anyone make it there in a boat or just bid from their sunlounger on the QE2?
  8. Go for the Zoom H2 or H4 (I always mix up but I think the 2 has four mics and the 4 has 2) but buy the cheaper one - I see new they are from 153 to around 160 quid. U can always sell on later with little loss and they dont seem to go wrong. Dead easy to use out of the box -- and u can stick it in your pocket and use cheap SD camera cards to download after the pub, or attach it to your PC and play in your bedroom. I like Audacity for playing back and slowiung down and repeating phrases to learn or see what was played wrong, but seems it is not so good for editing, but it is free! If H2 is good enough for: Joglaresa to record their gigs by sticking it on the floor www.joglaresa.com and good enough for hatchetjob for Web interviews with the hi=tech gliterati [On url below the interviewer is on H2, the interviewee is coming direct into the computer through Skype and the hum is a monster power four gig ram quad duo bazongo Intel turbo specially built PC even tho wrapped in a blanket... that shows the sensitivity of the H2 which can also be used to aim in various directions http://hatchetjob.libsyn.com/index.php?post_id=498686 ... then it is good enough for you too. Hatchetjob says H2 ' should be absolutely fine for him' Hatchetjob uses Mixcraft to edit as hates 'complicated' Audacity but it costs about 40 quid.
  9. DOUBLE VISION Jim/Paul ® and (S)- I got that double text syndrome after posting yesterday - I think it was after an edit, but no mattter what I did it would not let me re-edit out the doubled up text. I cant remember whether I just copied my note and deleted the whole post and then started afresh.... Don't know if this helps or just confuses
  10. Okay, I think I've fixed the upload problem. Give it a try... Paul Tks Paul! Will try later. My mail re the specific Dublin upload attempt was also a hint! hint! knock! knock! " check this out" for Paul (Read) and t'others who had earlier been debating Gaelic matters and delays (geddit?) B) Was trying to be indirectly discreet.....
  11. The hyperlink did indeed work! (Would not of course if the ad was no longer there...) I just thought Paul (Read) et al might be interested....
  12. 170403647973 tried to upload under thread elsewhere but it was refused....
  13. Doesn't like .png screen grab either, but this time Paul, perhaps it's a bug. Just tried uploading same file on another forum (I did not post as they will think I have gone more mad than I am....) and it went up fine. It was the png green scrab file.
  14. [quote name='Kautilya' date='09 November 2009 - 05:55 AM' timestamp='1257764113' Doesn't like .png screen grab either, but this time it showed me a nice rising number till it hit my file size of 207k CONCERTINA ANGLO WHEATSTONE.png This upload failed I was trying to upload this Dublin Wheatstone ... ebay 170403647973
  15. Don't think so. My "Manage Attachments" page tells me, "You have used 3.48MB of 4.88MB You have 58 attachments (71% used)" And here under this composition panel it says, "Used 0bytes of your 4.39MB global upload quota (Max. single file size: 4MB)" Aside from the disagreement between the two reports, the file I'm uploading is 98 Kb, so well below my limit, regardless of which of those numbers is correct. And didn't Paul say that he has just upped everyone's quota? This is my first upload attempt since he said that. Once again I tried uploading that file, with the same result. The upload seems to proceed just fine; it indicates that it's finished, waits several seconds, and then changes the green background of the status field to "red" (pink, actually) and displays the message "This upload failed". So it seems to me that there's something "rotten", and it's not here in Denmark. NOt a rotten Danish without raisins, maybe just a bridge too far - our efforts are perhaps dangling somewhere between the Øresundsbroen, the Öresundsbron or Øresundsbron and my upload box standing is way below that allocated by God (not Theo)
  16. I know I have suggested it before but I will suggest it again -- it would be good if the offending ebay details and photo are cut and pasted into our warning messages or we don't know what they were as they are deleted by the time the warning has gone out..... I copied their (nutcocoa) ebay details page, pasted into word doc, saved it and then tried to attach the (167kb) file below but it refused sayin this upload failed... aaagggghhhh! can't work out why ... You can't attach word files. Too much possibility of spreading a virus/trojan. It should only be done as a small heavily compressed image... I have limited hard drive space on the server so it's best to keep this in mind and keep attachments as small and efficient as possible, especially in cases like this where image quality is definitely not a concern. Thanks, Paul ah! Understood. Tho I find it won't allow .jpg pic either Paul? Jim - sounds like u are the expert for that project! :D
  17. Just used my Maplin Air duster (bought for computer keyboard) to remove external dust from bellows' folds and it worked far far better than a brush -- and also cleared gussets. I see it is on offer at Maplin at moment to Dec 24 09 for 7 quid. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=25351&source=2001&doy=search lots of Maplin shops around to avoid postage. of course u can also order fibreglass pen to clean off rust and gunge off your reeds!

  19. My pleasure. But don't forget, he who giveth can also take away. I take great pleasure in being a vengeful, wrathful, and impulsive forum deity. Paul Paul - don't know how this earlier post vanished but roughly it said - tks for such a lot of work by you and congratulations on update - onward and upward!
  20. BUT will it do the tuning business? - got caught out before with one which would only tune stringed instruments - limited "pinger"!
