Two Tunes (attempt To Post)

Alan Day

Here is my first attempt (After many previous unsuccessful attempts).

The First is a Breton tune and the second from the playing of Phillippe Bruneau a one row melodion specialist.

It maybe that the file is too large

Hi Alan,

It could well be the file size. How about getting the file added to the "Recorded Tunes" page (I forget, currently, where it is located), and running a link from this thread?

Regards,

Peter.

PS - nice tunes, so other members would appreciate listening!

I will record a shorter version and have another try

I see the problem I have used 3.63MB of 4.39MB probably on other things likes photos etc.I have never successfully posted a tune however.

The new file is 1.12 MB so it will not accept it. When does the old postings cancel or can I never attach again?

Hi Alan,

You have one of two options:

(1) Delete some of your previous attachments by using the CP.

(2) Convince Paul S. that you need additional storage capacity.

I don't know what (2) takes, but if it was easy, everyone would do it.

Regards,

Peter.

Alan,

No worries; it is easily solved.

Go to your upper right on the screen and choose 'My Controls'. Then scan down the list on the left until you see 'Manage my attachments'. It will show you all your current picture attachments. Select some of the less useful or older ones by clicking on their respective tick boxes. THen scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Delete selected items'. Presto, they are gone, and you are back in business. Those deleted will show as blanks in the old archives, however.

You should also think about compressing that 1.1 MB file, however. If you can open it in Microsoft Office Picture Manager, go to 'Edit Pictures', then select

Compress Pictures. If you then select the button called Documents, it will reduce the size to a manageable 200 KB or so, and still look great. Save the file, and then use it to post. That way you can stretch your number of attachments. If you don't use Uncle Bill's software, try to find the 'compress' feature on whatever software you are using. Should be there. (Edited to add: I now see that you are posting an MP3 not a picture. So please ignore this paragraph. Nice tune!)

Cheers,

Dan

Why don't you go to Box.net and become a member?

Then instead of posting a file, you can post link.

Is that been a problem or I missed the point?

Thanks for your advice Dan. Some of my earlier posting attempts may have filled up the available space.

I will currently bask in knowledge that I have at last posted a tune, even though it is a frantic one to beat the time allocation.

For those who are interested the whole of tune two can be played on one row ,including the ending, but a bit slower.

Very interesting Dan some of these postings go back to 2005,but most are still being looked at ,such as the Theatre Photo's.

As each posting takes about 1 MG that leaves very little room for posting tunes which I like to do.It would be a shame to delete them as they are still creating interest.

Henk is very busy these days so I do not want to pester him with tunes to post. I suppose the best option is the link back to a site as Jody does for his tune a Month.

If anyone would like a longer version of these tunes or the other Gentianne Mazurka tune ,just send me your Email address and I will send it off.

Hi Alan,

I know what you mean...it is hard to pull down some previously posted photos, as you have posted some humdingers. Sooner or later you will have to, however, assuming you find some more photos to share!

One thing you could do is pull off some of the 1 MB ones, compress them as I described, and then repost them in their slimmed down new state....this can be done by editing the old post. It is a bit of a bother, but one way to stretch your number of attachments. Myself, I've just started to pull old figures out to make more room; if anyone wants any old ones I figure they can ask via email.

Dan

ps. I'd love to hear the other tune if you could email it....
