m3838
I mean "crosspolination" (what's wrong with me? Just back from Honolulu. Aloha, they say. Anybody playing Hawaian on EC? Should be a match! ( I mean, while doing hula). Here's the secret of success: Play Hawaian on EC Play Irish on balalaika Play Russian on Ukulele There is absolutely no difference between: 1. Fijian and Georgian (Caucasus Mountains) harmonic singing. 2. Ukrainian and Hawaian femail dresses.
Theodore Kloba
Anybody playing Hawaian on EC?No, but how about: Franz Bunzel playing "Aloha Oe" on bandonion? From Die Konzertina in Franken, which is experiencing serious broken links due to server reorganization.

But frankly, it sounded more like a parody, like a contest: let's take Hawaian and make it German, or who can take Mexican tune and play it like it's Klezmer. I'd rather hear a "Hawaian" tune on bandoneon, it'll broaden the spectrum of an instrument and contribute to the musical style. But what a sound this bandoneon has! Beatiful. I wish... ah, nothing. Aldon
I have a couple of tunes posted at: http://www.nowhereradio.com/onemanband The one titled 'Ahe Lau Makani' is a Hawaiian song written by Queen Lili'uokalani. I'm playing English concertina and accordion on that one. Edited September 27, 2006 by Aldon
m3838
Excellent playing. Very interesting and rich. What kind of accordion are you playing? So there is you, a fluite player and some rhythm, recorded in layers?

David Barnert
What kind of accordion are you playing? So there is you, a fluite player and some rhythm, recorded in layers? Here's what it says on his web site:Instruments: English concertina (Wheatstone, 64 button), Tahitian Ukulele (8 neon-yellowstrings, genuine fishing line!), Susato C Pennywhistle (from the D/C/Bb set), 120 bass accordion (made by Lira of Italy). He's playing all of them, multitracked.

This was not "Aloha Oe" but, a pleasant surprise instead. I had given up trying to find something with a uke and concertina. Thanks
