Concertina in Bands

Recommended Posts

I have a few solo albums of a lot of the great concertina players of Irish Trad, Noel Hill, Mary MacNamara, Chris Droney and Edel Fox to name a few. But I just realized that in all my albums of a trad music played by a band, none of them have a concertina. They all have either a button accordion or an uilleann pipe player that plays that similiar toned instrument.

Anywho I'm looking to expand my musical collection. Can anyone tell me a few Irish Trad bands that feature a concertina player?

Mícheál O Raghallaigh - Providence

Pádraig Rynne - Guidewires

Aogan Lynch - Slide

Caitlín Nic Gabhann - Crinniu

Also, a great CD is Comb Your Hair and Curl it, with Caoimhin O Raghallaigh, Mícheál O Raghallaigh and Catherine McEvoy.

You can try a YouTube search for the above bands.

How about
in
Nomos
?

I was thinking he'd also played for Solas, but I'm not sure--he might simply have been backing up Karan Casey in her solo work (what with being married to her and all). The song I'm almost remembering was definitely with a band, not just voice and concertina.
