In the September (fall) issue of Concertina World Magazine is a supplemental issue by Eric Matusewitch on the history of the Matusewitch Family and their musical prowess on the English Concertina and Piano Accordion. Great stuff and Eric has outdone himself on anecdotal history of his family and the music they played. A great look into a most influential musical family of the 20th century. Not to be missed. rss

  5. Please see ebay listing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Concertina-Connection-Jack-Baritone-English-Concertina-/281700883727?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4196ae5d0f A surprisingly good Jack Baritone English Concertina, with a nice tone. All original apart from one thumb strap bolt, which has been replaced. This is great if you're thinking of trying a baritone but don't want to commit to the high prices you have to pay to buy a good Wheatstone (£2,000 plus). Bellows etc all in a good condition and all reeds sound. You are welcome to come and try if you live locally (Bearsden, Scotland). Will sell for £100 if not through ebay.

  10. I was cleaning out some of my files and found one of the first arrangements I did on my own with the help of Boris Matueswich. The tune is called The Days of Wine and Roses by Henry Mancini. It was, at the time, quite a challange with modulating major to minor chording and such: D7witha 5m - D9 or decending chords Am-Dm - Dm7-Bm7-Bflat9, etc So I found the sheet music and am reworking working the tune. Hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll have it in my fingers enough to do a demo. Reworking is a lot of fun and offers a way to keep my repertoire fresh. rss

  23. I made a chart for myself, partly as a side-trip of something else I'm working on. While it isn't particularly spectacular and some of my digital photo editing, color matching, etc., was a challenge, I do kind of like this. So, I'll post it here. It's also posted in my blog, so if one doesn't work out, the other will. Besides here at in my blog, this is also found at box.com/concertinachartrootswendy I don't like to rely on charts or printed music, but if I have something visual, it will make a space in my mind and I think it does help me to a degree.
  24. https://soundcloud.com/randy-stein-1/cant-help-falling-in-lovemp3mp3 "Can't Help Falling in Love" is a pop song originally recorded by American singer Elvis Presley and published by Gladys Music, Elvis Presley's publishing company. It was written by Hugo Peretti, Luigi Creatore and George David Weiss.[2] The melody is based on "Plaisir d'amour"[3] (1784), a popular romance by Jean Paul Egide Martini (1741–1816). It was featured in Elvis Presley's 1961 film, Blue Hawaii. Arranged for Solo English Concertina by Boris Matusewitch. There is one small bloop where my cell phone started to ring and distracted me. bummer. rss
