  1. Hi Nick I wouldn't have put it that strongly, but seeing as how you've revisited it.... I agree! Derek (note spelling!)
  2. How about it Paul (Site Guru)? There could be a retail opportunity here! Derek
  3. For my 2d, in the UK, the last two or three years have seen many more young folk artists appearing in clubs and at festivals, both as individuals and in bands. The festival goers still tend to be on the more mature side, but the signs are that the young bands are attracting a young following, who also use the rest of the festival. Sessions see younger musicians, but at present singarounds tend to be for the oldies. Some of the younger attendees seem to be children of folkies who have "rediscovered" their parents music after a lay-off to be with their peirs. I personally look forward to the day when I am an old bloke surrounded by youger folk making the music that I love, albeit in their own way. (The "old bloke" bit has unfortunately prematurely arrived! ) Derek
  4. Logging on this morning (thursday) it seems to have done the trick! I can skive off for a good few minutes reading the forum now! Derek

  7. a pin would let other C-netters know who you are without having to shout it out all day. Besides, what do you do when you need to change your t-shirt? (besides buying a suitcase full!) Derek
  8. I was at Alcester and Arden Folk festival at the week-end, with my singing "boy" band, The Laners, and was delighted to be in the company, both on and off stage, of "OLDNICKELBY" (Hi Nick), who sings with Young No More. and very good they were too. Our discussions ranged from C-net (of course) to a mutual dislike of folk songs of a religious persuasion. (I thought I was the only one!). He also showed me a concertina that I never saw the like of before, but I will leave that to him to talk about if he wants to. Anyway, the point is, how many other members have I met without knowing they were c-netters? Should we, (as a community) have a badge or whatever to identify us to other members? I'm not talking big and gaudy here, just a subtle pin. Derek Edited for the typos you never see until you post!

  16. Off topic I know, but did you see Hammersmith dance to no music? They put the melodeon on the floor where the musician would have been and danced a Longborough Dance perfectly. I was impressed all the way to the pub. Derek
