A couple of nice videos, Chas. I was hoping to get a glimpse of a concertina, but only saw a fiddle nailed up on the wall, and that m thing. It would appear that, in Sweden, the snow falls mainly in the fields; is this a legal requirement?

It's this element which keeps me visiting, regularly, if not posting as regularly as before. What I find "interesting", is the perception that people visiting C.net have to read every new posting. After my first few months, I had formed a view as to who was more likely to post informative, interesting, or amusing topics, and modified my reading accordingly. On topics where "trenches were dug" etc., I tended to avoid much of the debate. Hopefully this era has passed (at least for a while). There are culteral differences on both sides of "the pond", and this is reflected in both the subjects and manner of postings. Sometimes, this can make a topic more interesting and/or entertaining. After all, how many would choose to visit a forum where they are only served a diet of dry "facts"? So; I would encourage readers to be more selective.

Over the period 1985/93, I was fairly active with a portable cassette recorder, making recordings at many of the concertina events which I attended. Who knows what the future holds, but I thought that the list of recordings should be made available, "just in case"! Please note; with the exception of a few recordings currently on loan to Alan Day, my recording archive now resides with the International Concertina Association. The intention was for the ICA to transfer the recordings, from cassette tape, to digital format; a long and time-consuming process. I am not aware of the progress, to date, so please do not inundate the ICA with enquiries! Whilst the quality is not great, at least it is a recorded archive from the above era. Harry's "main" concertina is a 38 key C/G Dipper (octagonal), which I presume to have the Jeffries layout. I played it at Witney 2006, but didn't try anything "fancy", so don't know for certain. Other C.net members will be able to confirm the number of keys on Fred's instruments, but I think that at least one was a 38 key Jeffries.

My only thought is that is is probably safer done in a regulated, or "tourist" area of the country. "Merrie England" is fast becoming "Bandit England". Even 20 years ago, the late Paul Davies (a very experienced busker), told me that he no longer busked in Croydon, for fear of being mugged. You can play some nice music on a 20 penny Anglo. Alternatively, you could borrow a few extra keys from your one row melodeon, or perhaps do a bit of busking! Very good; obviously braver than me, over the weekend.
