alex_holden
On instruments with nickel silver end plates, typically how thick is the metal?
Bill Crossland
I use 22 swg from Mallard Metals, it has good rigidity and is easy to laser (or water jet) cut......
Dana Johnson
22 gage is a good bet. If you are using ends like the standard Jeffries ( minimal forming ) try to get it rolled 1/4 to 1/2 hard. Dead soft annealed which is common is ok, but deforms easily. I use quarter hard and draw it into Wheatstone style ends. Still soft enough to draw without cracking, but hard enough to resist bending. No effect on laser or WJ cutting. Better for standard CNC end milling.( cut in non sulphur cutting oil bath ) Dana
