There are hundreds of versions of the basic tune which itself is based on the pan-European ground, the passamezzo moderno. Wonderful to hear the anglo played in a more classical way and a fine range of harmonies/chords, both as a lead instrument and as accompaniment to that dazzling recorder playing. As promised, we had not only the 17th/18th century stuff but a bit of music hall and even a burst of David Bowie! A grand afternoon's music. Thanks to the others who came along - we had a great time on the tour and we're already thinking about coming back next year, or in 2017.
