Canary Bird
Has anyone had the opportunity to play both the Marcus Standard anglo c/g and the The Clare from Irish Concertina Co. in order to compare them? The both look like fine instruments and in the same market range for price/quality. The Marcus has 7 bellows and you can get it with stainless steel ends, while The Clare lists 6 bellows and hard case. http://www.marcusmusic.co.uk/concertinas.html http://www.theirishconcertinacompany.com/products//the-clare/ Any thoughts or input before I buy would be greatly appreciated! THANK YOU! Edited January 7, 2017 by Canary Bird
Canary Bird
I have just happily purchased and acquired a Marcus G/D. It is great! I had the opportunity to pick it up at Marcus' shop a few weeks ago and one son, my wife & I are fighting for playing time! I would repeat this purchase from Marcus again! Mikefule
On specification, they look comparable. I had a Marcus and it was a nice instrument, good quality, nice action. I got good service from Marcus and it arrived sooner than expected.

Bruce McCaskey
I've tried both but several years apart so I can't really compare them. Just recently sold a C/G Marcus Deluxe and thought it was a nice concertina. Good response, easy to play, nice sound and never a problem. Only sold it because I've come to own some high end instruments and it was redundant.
David Levine
My favorite hybrid concertina is still the Morse. Light, well made, and very responsive. The people at The Button Box are also a pleasure to deal with.

THANK YOU! just noticed this topic. Curious as to which you eventually went for? Ive just got a Wolverton G/D. (I dont think he was in business when you originally posted. ) I have to say that for the money it is the finest concertina Ive heard/played. I intend to replace my c/g in a year or so and based on my experience of dealing with Jake at Wolverton will almost certainly go to him for it
