Aquarussell
The UCSB library has a collection of 5000 Edison Cylinders, and is digitising them. I searched for Concertina and found a few hits at http://www.cylinders,library,ucsb.edu/search.php Should I have heard of Alexander Prince or Arthur Osmand? Anglogeezer
That link is not quite correct!! Try stops instead of commas!! -- as http://cylinders.library.ucsb.edu/index.php Alexander Prince is famous!! Jake
Henk van Aalten
I searched for Concertina and found a few hits athttp://www.cylinders,library,ucsb.edu/search.php The URL contains commas instead of dots and does not work for that reason. It should be: http://www.cylinders.library.ucsb.edu/search.php

David Barnert
Should I have heard of Alexander Prince or Arthur Osmand? Prince has been discussed several times in these forums (use the search button). A search on Osmand turns up nothing before this thread.
David Barnert
A search on Osmand turns up nothing before this thread.I've just had a look (and listen) at the UCSB Library page and noticed that I searched on a misspelling of Osmond's name. I've now done the search on "Arthur Osmond." Still no hits. Edited for the silliest of reasons. Edited December 24, 2005 by David Barnert
David Barnert
Had another look. Osmond's contribution appears to be a) not available for download and not a concertina solo, but a "Comic song. Male vocal with orchestra accompaniment" called "I Played My Concertina" (which is why it came up in the search on "concertina"). Edited to add this link. Anybody know the song? Dan Worrall
The UCSB library has a collection of 5000 Edison Cylinders, and is digitising them. Many thanks for the link!! Alexander Prince is ok, but for some amazing free reed action on these cylinders try out John Kimmel, and reflect on the fact that he played those Irish tunes on a one row melodeon. Season's greetings!
