newarmy Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Hello all, I'm new to the forum and new to the concertina. My wife bought me an Italian made 20 button concertina and a book titled "The Concertina and How to Play It" by Paul de Ville. I'm looking for a beginners lesson book for the 20 button that comes with CD, CD-ROM or DVD so that I can hear how the songs should sound. I bought the "Learn to Play Irish Concertina" DVD by John Williams but his lesson is way out of my league and most is for the 30 button. He is really good and love the Irish style. Anyway, Help from anyone would be much appreciated. Joe M.
asdormire Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 When I was starting out I found the exercises in the deVille useful in learning where the buttons were, which later helped me in sight reading tunes. Alan
gibet_b Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 I'm interested by information about a CD method of concertina too...
David Barnert Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Alan Day (a member of this forum) has made a very popular 20-button Anglo tutorial on a CD and I have put together the music notation for the tunes on it. Both are available (free) here. Alan plays in the "English" style, that is, melody on the right hand, chords on the left.
