  1. On a mac with mac os x, the most easy way it's to use one of these two freeware : TubeTV or GetTube. TubeTV is my favourite but the two lets you download (and convert in other format than flash) youtube or daily motion video with one click only. It's more easy than pc finally
  2. Very happy you join the forum ! Don't hesitate to participate !
  3. Hello everybody, I'm very happy to talk you about a new website and his forum, in french language. Site : www.concertina.fr Forum : forum.concertina.fr Thanks a lot,
  4. I had this "problem" too (on the L4 and L5 of the C row, and a little different on the R1 of the C row). On the left, i'm almost sure it's a problem with aluminium frame. On the right, the sound is not exactly (i'm not sure) the same sounds. Maybe a probleme of humidity. And the push note is perfect, only the Draw is a little bit difficult to produce and sounds not normal. I think it's a problem of humidity because the sounds make me think about water on the reed (i never heard a reed with water on it, but I guess). I received my Rochelle two weeks. How long time before the problem disapear ? It's only for know when I had to throw in the panic Thanks a lot,
  5. I begin to learning concertina, and I'm agree to say it's important that the song was well known. It's more dificult to learn a tune which is impossible to find a recording on the net. I have 3 methods concertina : - "When the saints" is the first tune for the Wim Wakker method ; - "Cock of the north" is the first tune for Didier Jaffrédo method ; - "Óró" is the first tune for John Williams DVD.
  6. I just bought a metronome ;-) Thanks for yours comments.
  7. Hi Peter ! Thanks a lot. I made it for two reasons : - to send a video to the persons who gave the money (for christmas) for buy my concertina ; - to have some feedback about my learning, because I have no teacher for the moment. Good news, but maybe the rythm is not the best yet. I think the rythm will be one of the more difficult point in my concertina learning. Of course you can give your opinion and your ideas ! I will try to do what you suggest. Maybe this type of exercise is less difficult when you have play piano, as me... Maybe not.
  8. Watch the video . It's not perfect, of course. I hesitate 2 or 3 times, and I'm not sure about how to use the air button during I play. I make these video for somebody who wants to follow the firt steps of learning concertina by a true beginer.
  9. Well. About the instrument, I like the sound, the buttons are pleasing to the touch. The instrument is nice, and it seems to be strong. The only problem that I meet it's the same as in this post, so it will disappear. About the learning now. Of course it's very different from the piano (all the buttons are the same and it don't produce the same thing if you push or draw). So I think I had to acquire automatic reflexes, to learn how to produce this note, etc. I had two methods for the moment. One in french by Didier Jaffrédo, and an other one in english given with the instrument. I think the english one is better for me for the moment, I prefer the progression. And it learn me the ABC notation and I think it will be usefull if I have to talk with an english player or teacher. But it seems to me that the english one don't talk about ornements, so I will study the french one in some months. I ordered the John William's DVD (but not receive). I think I will make some videos of my learning. The first tunes of the method it's "When the saints", but I don't begin to learn it for the moment.
  10. I just receive my Rochelle this morning. I'm very happy and I begin to learn.
  11. I guess I'm not the only one mac user on this forum ;-) Mac Users can use GarageBand for mix their tunes too, with video, as same as a podcast.
  12. I sent you a mail to the adress you give on your website.
  13. Thanks a lot Peter. It's a pity that he didn't make a special Massif Central section as he did for "Normandie" and "Bretagne" but it will not so difficult to find "Auvergne" and "Massif Central" in the ABC files. So, I received the concertina method from Didier Jaffrédo today, but I wait the concertina yet.
  14. It's my plan. I hope I will be able to "push the boundaries". I think it's perfectly possible : i heard somebody try to play "La valse d'Amélie" by Yann Tiersen (from the "Amélie Poulain" soundtrack) and it was very interesting... It's possible but if i will be able to match the challenge. For the moment, I seek for a repertoire of songs that i will be able to learn. I found for celtic music on this website (my favourites songs are here : Carrickfergus, Brian Boru's March, Morrison's jig ; only some of them miss : foggy dew, the town i love so well, and 2 or 3 songs. But I don't know french traditionnal music as well as celtic music, and i don't know where i can find a compilation of the most well known french traditionnal, especially auvergne's songs. I'm curious to learn this type of music, but i don't know it very well.
  15. I don't know yet where is the nearest group of players of traditionnal music... But i will seek. And the grand father of my wife is a fan of traditionnal music, so he probably know where i can find players to play with them. But all the players that i saw for the moment don't have concertina players (but bagpipe, vielle, accordion). I hope to play with my family too : my sister played piano for a long time ; my mother played piano and guitar, and now begin to learn accordion ; my wife wish to study again the guitar... In fact, i wish to play a lot of types of music on the concertina : traditionnal music of auvergne and celtic music (all kind of celtic music, french, irish, scottish...) for the most important part, and why not types of music that rarely used concertina : country (i love Johnny Cash) for example.
