SIMON GABRIELOW
I like the low toned notes once again. The contrast and sudden dips in tone very chromatic. I have a record somewhere ( classical) where there is odd combination of double bass, and viola! Very unexpected contrasts very intriguing to listen to. (Dittersdorf; sinfonia concertante for double bass, and viola in D). Not me being rude!😊 That's the double bass with viola tune I meant.

I've always enjoyed playing in C & F & love tuning my Fiddle down to C, C# & Bb pitched Uilleann Pipes in sessions. It's lovely how the pitch completely changes the 'flavour' of the tunes. 🙂 Of course, in the case of this Strathspey, the low notes are an integral part of the tune as it was written.
