Mike Hulme
Any idea when this Lachenal 30 key anglo was made please? Serial No: 50477 Rosewood ends, steel reeds, bone buttons. Thanks, Mike

Serial No: 50477 This thread may point you in the right direction. I think that some of the (outdated?) information referenced in that thread points to about 1885-1895? I'm not an expert - maybe some-one with more knowledge than me will chip in... Roger
Dowright
I estimate that it was made circa 1878. The closest "marker" that I have is No 46951, a 20 key Anglo with handwritten "Bought at Wallis Warehouse, 1 Jan 1878". Lachenal was making about 5200 Anglos per year in that period. Mike Hulme
Thanks for the info. There are no internal markings on the pans, which were cleaned when the bellows were replaced. It is in remarkably good condition for a 140 year old instrument. Mike
