richard
Hello I have just returned from a great trip to Ireland and I want to recommend a wonderful CD I found of Young musicians from East Clare who have been students with the great Mary Mac Namara who is a very influential musician and teacher there. "The album is a fundraiser for music exchanges with young musicians from other countries" "Unfolding" Young Music From East Clare http://www.custysmusic.com/product-info.php?pid737.html Thanks, Richard
ceemonster
i just listened to a clip from this yesterday on the Custys site and loved it. i made a point of going to the "young players" concert both times i was at the east clare Feakle festival. best-kept secret---if you love the classic east-clare style, going to and taping those concerts are gonna yield a rich store of music in that style. there were at least two concertina players in the group for both concerts i heard, and they were both lovely. one was named Eimar, that i do recall. plus, mary played solo herself when the young dancers were doing their stuff, so you got that as a treat as well....i'm an acccordion person as well as a concertina person, the box playing was also marvelous... maki
I got this from a Chiff and Fipple forum post: "Here is more about the exchange Mary is currently involved in. She'll be in the U.S. in a few weeks bringing a group of her younger musicians. They are part of an exchange program with younger musicians from the eastern U.S. You can learn all about it here (& please share with others, & support if you can!): http://tradyouthexchange.weebly.com/(website) and https://www.facebook.com/TradYouthExchange(Facebook page)"
