Sharron Posted November 1, 2004 Share Posted November 1, 2004 (edited) My husband bought his final choice of boxes to see him through retirement, he bought 3, all brand new...bought in May and June this year. Unfortunately he has an old shoulder injury which is now flaring up at increasing intervals, his doctor says the box playing is aggravating the condition. He only had the problem occasionally when playing before which is why he picked light and easy boxes. I have *lent* him my anglo concertina to try his hand at....he is getting along a little to well with MY concertina actually. So he has decided to sell his beloved boxes and go with the anglo as it isn't causing any problems to his shoulder at all. The boxes are:- Catagnari Tommy in walnut b/c dry tuned...new £1895....selling £1200 Cairdin 2v in oak b/c dry tuned...new £1500?.....selling for £950 Castagnari Max 4v 1 row melodeon in C...new £1350 selling for £750 If there are any questions just ask. I can supply photos, and anyone is welcome to come and try them if you are in the north-east of England. So he has decided to ... go with the anglo as it isn't causing any problems to his shoulder at all. If you want to get him away from your anglo, you might suggest he try an English or duet. You could tell him that less in an out of the bellows might be easier on his shoulder.
