nkgibbs
Apologies for missing the previous thread on these concertinas. The fretwork looks very particular; Stephen, do you have photos of any other similar Jones concertinas? Regards, Neil
Stephen Chambers
The fretwork looks very particular; Stephen, do you have photos of any other similar Jones concertinas? Neil, Unfortunately my PC got drowned a few weeks ago, and hence I've precious few photos of any concertinas at the moment... However, I've only ever seen that "vocabulary" of fret cutting on the instruments of two makers: Jones and Nickolds. But I'd consider George Jones much more likely. Alan Day
An Anglo Concertina similar to this was sold last week at Tooveys Auction House in Sussex It was in tune with itself ,some pads missing and a large hole in the bellows which looked to be original. Riveted action Hammer price £1700 which is interesting as the economical situation I thought would effect the price, but this is about what I would have expected ,possibly higher. With the higher rate of sales commission and Vat, purchase price would be near to £2000. I thought it may have been a GD but not sure. Al
Chris Drinkwater
.....and a large hole in the bellows which looked to be original. Didn't know they came with holes as original. What a bonus. Were they saving on leather? Chris
