Keys

Recommended Posts

I know you've all seen the listings for concertinas with a locking case and no key. Well, I have a Lachenal with the original case in really good condition and, yep, no key.

So, does anybody here know if those old locks used a basic skeleton type key which would fit many different locks, or are there so many different ones that it's going to be impossible to replace? Thanks for any info.

You could try a visit to a local antiques shop.

They often have collections of old keys for cabinets/jewellery boxes etc. There's a good chance you could find one that fits, and (probably) only for a pound or two.

In the distant past, I posted a photo of my lachenal case key to help someone find a match ... and from the discussion it was clear that pretty well any key of approx. the right dimensions would fit!

BTW Theo at the box place sells very nice replacement locks for a modest price.
