Well well, a funny thing happened to me on the way down to the Pier Head tomorrow (I will be passing that way en route to//////(don't ask)//////////////// Whitby ...... When I opened something for the weekend it came up with de Tallships gathering down at de docks as a little prezzie for Tallship after he offered arpeggio practice which some could not understand. It took me about 10 minutes to realise I was looking at a very old post. For Tallship therefore, I am ready to give Jack un grand baiser d'amour at the Eurosessions at Whitby (but it will cost Tship a tenner and I will only do it with my eyes screwed up!!!) :rolleyes:

We wanted to come and listen to the musicians playing who were there last year each day during the Folk week - it was one of the nicest happenings of the whole festival and the main bar with the deck restaurant was so comfortable. If we want to eat while listening to the music, do you do your Resolution Burgers with the big fat chips all day? If we want to eat beforehand, what time does the lunch time sitting finish please? Or if we want tea (proper tea) or an early fish and chips supper after the music what time do you start serving please? Is the steak offer on every day/ night during Folk Week. Thanks a lot...

Oh gosh.... There won't be enough room in the Elsinore if we get the same numbers as last year, nor space for the range of instruments including dulcimers nor room for the dancers who came along... We cerainly cannot fit at same time as the melnetters - it was so cramped last year some were playing bivouacked on the North Wall. The Resolution will lose a number of meal sales -- some people also ate in the restaurant before and after the Eurosessions, up the few steps from where we played and danced. Has the young, very (innovative seafood)chef left too??? Does Middle Earth have programme workshops in the afternoons? - it was slack until about 1700 on a number of days after the middayish workshops. It has the room and the welcome.

G Arside, that well known wind teacher and peformer is apparently promoting free hot cross bums at The Elsinore or somewhere (see refs to Elsinore and seating arrangements).That's next door to Eurosessions in The Resolution. Any Hohner Scottish Highlander players should remember to bring 'em, as G Arside et al may be playing Athol Highlanders (praps also with bagpipes...) if the occasion arises. For insipid (is that the right word or perhaps incipient... ) melodeon players he also does a good melodeon beginners' workshop (or two) in the Middle Earth in the mornings. Low cost for pensioners and there may be a free one (a please put a penny in the old man's hat collection to cover his beans and other fuel. Check official Whitby calendar or melnet.

ughh - camping barn *YHA one* (as this farm has its own barns too) is 70 quid a night for 10 people and you have to book 10 - all or nowt but the outside netty should be good for a quiet read. Dovedale below is 11.2 miles from wirksworth (on the Chester side of the Peak district) "Has anyone wild camped in the Peak District? I have noticed that all the campsites tend to be in the valleys, particularly around Edale. I honestly can't see a problem with wild camping, as long as it is done responsibly!!!

Thing is that coz there are several thousand arty-folk turning up for the week or more of talks and walks and forest happenings and sculptures most of the regular accomm (incl regional YHA) is long gone that weekend. But have a skeg at wirksworth location in relation to map YHA.org.uk as some of them used to offer camping and use of the facilities - but not sure how near such YHAs are.
