  1. Have you considered Skype Mark? It's free to download and a headset with mic costs a fiver or so and you are away. Calls are then free anywhere in the world and you can even have conference calls with mates. Ian Musical Saw. Surely I can't be the only person long enough in the tooth to remember performers of the musical saw on the musical hall stage ? (and PLEASE spare us from any crass jokes on the subject of saw-teeth !) Still played here in the Isle of Man!
  2. Sorry, I should have posted that this has been sold (and donation duly made!)
  3. I have a Sherwood Anglo C/G for sale - Wheatstone layout, as new. More information is on Hobgoblin site. These cost £999 new and I am prepared to accept a reasonable offer. Please PM me if interested.
  4. My mistake - I meant to put Keadue but had just been trying to find the dates for Feakle this year! Bernie Geraghty it was - many thanks for your help.
  5. Can anyone please tell me who the tutor was at last year's workshops in Feakle. I think her first name was Bernie, and she was such a good teacher I want to try and get more lessons with her.
  6. As there appears to no interest in my Sherwood, can anyone advise what would be a reasonable price to ask for it. I've no idea of the depreciation on concertinas this type/price when they're not being traded in for a more expensive one.

  8. Bought last year, and only played in the privacy of my house, it is identical to: http://www.hobgoblin.com/local/sherwoodintro.php I have taken my own photos of it, but for some reason they make the ends look gold. I'll try again if anyone wants me to, but it is as new, with no marks of any sort, and no wear - it's not been played enough. I bought it new from Celtic Chords in Stonehaven for £999, which is the same as Hobgoblin's price. If someone wants to make me a reasonable offer, it'll save the ebay hassle.
  9. Thank you for your help. Situation is now resolved - buyer no longer wanted the concertina because of the long delay in delivery, so the carrier has accepted responsibility for collecting it. I keep the insurance money that was paid out and the concertina now belongs to the courier. I presume they auction it to recoup some money.
  10. Can anyone advise what I can do about a concertina I sold which disappeared in the postal system without a trace. After a month it was finally declared officially lost and I claimed on insurance (receiving just about enough to cover the amount I had to pay back to the buyer and postage costs). A couple of weeks later the buyer contacted me to say it had suddenly turned up!! He, meanwhile, has purchased another one as he presumed it was lost and doesn't want mine any more. What on earth do I do now?
  11. Does anyone know of a teacher for mainly Irish traditional music in Liverpool, Preston or Lancaster areas please?
  12. Sorry, don't know - even though I have one which I bought from a music shop in Stonehaven, Scotland earlier in the year for £999. I'll be selling it in February when I get my Morse (I prefer the wooden ended concertinas). I'd just add that the Sherwood metal ends don't retain the bright shine that the Marcus ones do. I've not tried to polish it up - I think it looks better a little mellowed!
  13. In order to fund my new concertina habit I need to sell two of my boxes quickly - hence offering them for £500 each plus postage. One is a CASTAGNARI LILLY in good condition (there are a few very minor dints & scratches). It was bought less than 3 years ago and it comes with a hard case. The other is a BERNARD LOFFET TOUTPIT model bought last year and in excellent condition. It comes with a soft case. They are both small, lightweight boxes but the Toutpit has a richer tone than the Lilly. You can read more about the Toutpit at http://www.thriftmusic.co.uk/ and it's listed at £799. The Lilly varies considerably in price depending on dealer - between £850 and £1045.00. I'm trying to avoid putting them on ebay (though I've got myself validated and ready, the instructions look daunting) so if anyone's interested let me know and I'll send photos (can't figure how to do it on here!). Location is Isle of Man and will will post to British Isles.
