Virtual Concertina Continued

But someone clever enough could do something similar for a 30 button anglo using the computer keyboard to map the notes. Now THAT would be a very useful resource indeed!

I am tempted - but not now. We can take the idea through a spin in October, your place. Press = press key, pull is press key + modifier key. Which? Space?

Space bar sounds good to me. But how do you deal with the problem of varying the duration of the notes, or do you just make them all equal? And what about the possibility of more than one note sounding at a time, or would that be too difficult?

Anybody know what they used for a sound source? Doesn't sound like concertina reeds to me.

It sounded concertina-like to me and is represented to be that on the site, but it's hard to be sure. I'll contact the site owner and invite him to join this discussion.

Though I've yet to do programming at that level, I understand that "key down" and "key up" can be registered as separate events for each individual key. So it should only be necessary for the program to monitor such information and respond accordingly by sending appropriate signals to the sound generator or midi interface.

If nobody else does it by next year, remind me, and I might give it a try. :)

(Not enough time right now.)
