chainyanker Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 http://cgi.ebay.com/20-KEY-LACHENAL-McCANN...1QQcmdZViewItem i thought this funny. not only the title, also some of the description "Mahogany ends with metal fretwork"
Leo Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I can't be sure, but I think they got it mixed up with one of their other items http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...s_promot_widget Thanks Leo
Stephen Chambers Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 (edited) "Mahogany ends with metal fretwork" I think there may be a bit of a cut-and-paste mix-up going on here for one thing, in that the same seller also has a 46-key Maccann Duet (with metal ends) for sale? It's listed here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...s_promot_widget Edited to add: Leo, you beat me to it! Edited December 7, 2007 by Stephen Chambers
Dirge Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Now that is a REAL rarity, likely to have been made in '1850 to 60' apparently. Extremely early for a Maccan......

Yes, they weren't quite as developed in those days: Borrowed from Bob Gaskins' photo essay: http://www.concertina.com/duett/wheatstone...no-64/index.htm
KerryFrank Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 http://cgi.ebay.com/20-KEY-LACHENAL-McCANN...1QQcmdZViewItem i thought this funny. not only the title, also some of the description "Mahogany ends with metal fretwork" It gets better! Check out page 4 of his store ads! He advertises a "Antique Silk Top Hat & Case-Worn to the Kaiser's Funeral" I wonder if he perched the case on top of the top hat, or the top hat on top of the case, at the funeral. I get this mental image of a very confused old man, writing these ads. Kerry
Stephen Chambers Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 ... "Antique Silk Top Hat & Case-Worn to the Kaiser's Funeral" ... I get this mental image of a very confused old man, writing these ads. That's funny, I was talking about him (Kaiser Bill) only the other day... But with feedback approaching 4000, and seven pages of items for sale, I'd blame the pressure of writing all those listings!
