Alan Caffrey Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Hello all, simple question here, how is the tile of the jig Gillian's Apples pronounced? I live in an isolated part of the States so have no one to ask here. I have an Aunt Gillian in Britain and her name is said the same as Jillian; so Gillian' Apples, is it Jill.. or Gill.. (as in fish gill) ? Best Wishes, Alan.
mthatcher61 Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 I believe it is pronounced 'Jillen's Apples'.
Larryo Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I can only vouch for how it is pronounced in Ireland, and that is as in Jillian. Nice tune also ! Larry
chris Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Hi My Step-daughter would be miffed if she was called 'G'illian not 'J'illian but then again I know of at least 2 people using the 'Gill' pronounciation. But does it really matter to the 'tune' which version you use just enjoy playing it chris
