bradvs
I'm looking for a good 48 key english concertina, in the 1000-3000 dollar range. Currently looking at several wheatstone's from across the pond. Just seeing if anyone out there has a good quality instrument for sale in the Southern California area, within about 5 hr drive from San Diego. With a good offer I would probably be willing to make the drive in late Nov to see the instrument first hand. -Brad bradvs@hotmail.com
Larry Stout
Lark in the Morning's one of a kind and antique instruments page http://www.larkcamp.com/oneofakind.html lists several Lachenals. If one of the stores in in driving range that might be a possibility-- I got my Wheatstone Model 21 (1914) from them about two years ago. It has served me quite well. Elderly instruments still has a rather nice looking Wheatstone on their page at http://elderly.com/vintage/items/160U-362.htm Button Box also has a Wheatstone in your range-- http://www.buttonbox.com/stocklist.shtml They are the specialists and will have made sure that the instrument is restored and in tune. The other two sources might or might not end up needing some work (my box form Lark in the Morning did not, but I may have just gotten lucky). All of these sources have the advantage of being in the US with prices in US $, so you won't get clobbered by the exchange rate! Hope this helps. chris
Hi I had a look at the lark in the morning link they seem to call everything a'Lachenal' but I'm sure that at least 2 of the 'english' are probably George Case. Vern Lindquist
The following Ebay listing is for a Wheatstone English: 200163061677 It's only listed in "Stores," so it may be under the radar. Seems to be in fair condition, though I'm sure it would need work. I don't follow English prices, so I'm not sure it's worth the price, but it is within your range.
