d.elliott
I have just aquired this instrument as a very sorry looking scrapper for spare parts, but its saveable! The fretting was smashed in but all the bits have survived. A bit of care and it may make a nice instrument. It has a unique feature, the pivots are like a pair of hookes to catch trunion pins through the lever arms. The craftsmanship in its construction is superb. The keys are narrow compared with other instruments, but it will be a fine rosewood ended nickle/ pale brass reeded instrument. All keys are bushed, and the bellows in quite good order. The insrument is hard stamped on all main assemblies, serial no and Rock Chidley. I don't know much about this man, I know him to have been a relation of Charley W? Has anyone got a decent scan or photo of the Rock Chidley 'seal' that would have been in the fretting apperture? Dave

Not here, anyway. My RC (also in need of significant restoration) is also missing external labels.
Mark Stayton
Has anyone got a decent scan or photo of the Rock Chidley 'seal' that would have been in the fretting apperture? It's a bit rough, but here's a scan of the seal from RC #1245:
