Roger Hare Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 (edited) Whilst idly sampling a database of ABC scripts yesterday, I came across the following: X:45 T:Bulgarian Tune F:Balkan S:Ir-Trad/abc-users, Gerry Strong, 4/98 O:Balkan M:2/4 L:1/8 Q:100 K:C E|A^GAB|c>dcc|BAA^G|A3E|A^GAB|c>dcc|BAA^G |A3c|:B>A B/2c/2d|G>A Gc|Bcde|c3 c|B>A B/2c/2d|G>A Gc|BAA^G|1A3c:|2A4 As far as I can tell it's the same tune as is used for 'The Lawyers Lamentation For Charing Cross' on the old Critics Group LP 'Merry Progress To London'. I only found a few other listings of the same tune, all of which repeated the Bulgarian theme. Is it really Bulgarian? Knowing a little about how the Critics Group operated, I suppose it's possible they grabbed 'odd' tunes for some of their songs, but it just seems a little too quirky... Thoughts?
