ragsy
Hi all, first post here, I have checked the Wheatstone ledgers and it appears that I have a 1916 56 duet concertina, I'm wondering if any of you could give me a rough idea of its value as I am a guitar player and would rather put the proceeds from this sale towards a nice vintage guitar, hope you can help. Mike Franch
You might better try Buy & Sell. Duets, unfortunately, don't seem to attract broad interest, although their devotees love them.

Don Taylor
Ragsy: This looks like a 56 button Maccann in decent shape. It looks like a model 35 from this price list: http://www.concertina.com/pricelists/wheatstone-duet/Wh-Pricelist-Duet-c1915.pdf I am guessing that it has not been used in many years and that it needs restoring to bring it into playing condition. Chris Algar, the largest concertina dealer, recently sold a 46 button Maccann from about the same period for 750 UK Sterling. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wheatstone-46-Key-Maccann-Duet-Concertina-Restored-and-in-Concert-Pitch-/251440552523?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=XPoqHGrBLWRZRSEY4jTN8BNNqoA%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc Your looks much nicer, but his had been brought up to modern playing condition, which Chris estimates cost 400 pounds. If yours had the work done on it then it should be worth more than Chris got for his. So, in its current state, at least 350 pounds, probably quite a bit more - if you can connect with a buyer. The big question is the state of the reeds - if they are rusty then the value drops off dramatically. Where are you located? Maybe we tell you of a dealer or a restorer nearby.
