About 28 years ago I came to DC to visit my sister (subsequently moved here a few years later from NYC). While here I looked up Mr Heatwole and played for him. He was quite up in years at that time and he shared some stories, music, and gave me his 64 page booklet on the English Concertina. My first instrument I bought was a Heatwole, cheap Italian make but a good one to learn on. He was a kind man and I am glad I was able to get to know him albeit late in his life.
