Ah, but he needs to tell us what the price is

Dan,
Greg Jowaisas told me that Palestine was a good place for concertinistas ... or other nonsense names. Have you got a URL that I can look up? E TX is a bit closer than W MA to Tucson.
Thanks!

Thanks Rod for the speedy send - and thanks to the usps - the box arrived in Oz yesterday morning ... now i have to wait for a letter from the customs people that will give me a link to a webpage to print out the forms to fill in to send back to them and then they can reply by mail telling me how much i have to pay (jeez guys, GST is 10%!! - I can do the math) and then i can pay them and then they release the box to be sent to me - so next friday at the earliest I reckon - week monday or tuesday realistically
I really loathe the Australian customs / postal services who seem to go out of their way to be unhelpful. I have called and they seem to have a standard unhelpful answer...
Oh well at least I have my beautiful sounding melodeon (thanks Malcolm) to play in the meantime ...
I'd been watching the USPS tracking site and saw that it was in customs on your end. Hopefully it won't be too long. I'll play my Pokerwork in sympathy as well. Mine's a G/C though.
Lwt me know if there's anything else that I can do on this end.

Since a lot of folks talk about attending both NESI and Portsmouth would there be a way to combine both into a weekend? I know the folks at the Port Inn (having stayed there many times on business) and I'd wager that they'd give a group like that a super rate!
-
Xulutlu,
Could you post a picture of the RH side as well?
Thanks
-
I was thinking of making that my plan as well. I only wish I could get the Portsmouth Maritime in to the mix also.
-
Yeah I've heard he's a very nice chap
Got any pics of the Crabb?
Didn't want to throw your name out there without asking. I've been caught on that.
There are Crabb pictures on this thread
Donation sent ... what a forum!!!

Jenny,
Mine showed up in the post today. Are we allowed to say 'Brilliant' on this side of the pond? Especially the Courtly Masquing Ayres and Mortlack's Ground. Purcell, Blow, etc was my favourite era in my Music degree in college. Oops, there goes that 'u' again.
Wonderful ... thank you! I need to attend one of these before you quit organizing them.

SOLD! The Morse is on its way to Australia! I wish I could deliver it but perhaps a trip later. The new owner is a c.net member and quite a nice fellow to correspond with. But that's because he's a c.net member. Watch out ... recursive logic!
And the Crabb showed up today ..... it's truly brilliant!

Thanks for the responses so far. Maybe I'd just better have the company move me to the UK for a year
-
Unfortunately, work is getting in the way of my attending the NESI this year. It's at the end of our fiscal year and as always, there are problem accounts to bring in. No expletives on c.net. That said, I get to plan for next year and wondered what would be good events in the UK to consider attending? Jenny has talked about Hawkwood. Does anybody have suggestions? I'd imagine that I should stay away from the ends of Dec, Mar, Jun and Sep.
Thank you for any suggestions ....

I know that I've been on the quest for that Crane and bought a 55 button one. However, the left hand only goes down to C-1 which leaves a lot of hymns out. Kurt Braun has a 59 key that goes down to F-2 withi would cover almost anything ... plus he has a special C-2 button.
My new Crabb will be a 69 that goes down to F-2. I think that's optimal but I've yet to expeirence it's weight. Had I ordered it new, I'd avoid the extra row on the right down to g-1 and substitue for an extra row on the left down to C-2.
I'm not convinced that the overlap is as important as the spread.
But again, I'm relatively new at this so your mileage may vary.

Sadly, I must sell the Morse Baritone to help with the purchase of a wonderful Crabb Crane from Chris Algar.. It's in great condition, built May, 2004, #210. Includes case and all original paperwork so you have its complete history. I will discuss offers in the $1600 range.
The sound file is not me playing.
Of course, the proper donation will be made upon sale from this forum

When it comes to duets there does seem to be a direct inversion between ease of starting playing and availability of the larger beasts.
No problem though, as I said. And who is Bill the Cat, exactly?
An obscure character from a popular US comic strip, "Bloom County." I'll see if I can find a choice one to send.
Also, I'd like to PM you about your Morgan 3-wheeler if I may. I've always wanted one ....
-
although exactly why I should pick on you I don't know. I can't see anything particularly contentious in your post.
Only in that you're a quite vocal supporter of the Maccann and I thought you might hand me a bit of grief about not choosing it.
I did email the moderators with the request.
Again, sorry to irritate ....
-
I will make that request of the moderators. I've tried to do it myself and am not able. No offense intended, I promise.

As it stands, I'm committed to buying a copy, but I have to paper-mail a check in Pounds to ENgland. I'd pay extra to a US dealer to save that hassle.
--Mike K.
Roots2Music will have it on our website any day now. That takes credit card payments. Right now I only have the copy that Jenny posted to me (and you are not having that!) but I will collect copies from her at Witney and we can mail them right after.
People going to the squeeze-in may do better that way, but if you happen to be in Australia or . . .
Roger, how about a URL?

How about moonlight mile of the stones, isn't that spooky?
Hi Marien,
I'll have to look that one up. I don't know the tune but I'll admit that there's a lot that I don't know yet!
All the best,
By the way, this should show up from Chris in about two weeks...

Any chance you could ship some of these CDs over to the Button Box in the U.S? Two weeks from the time I'm writing I'll bet they could sell quite a few to those of us who well attend the Northeast Squeeze-In (including me).
Ken
Great idea, Ken. but Button Box hasn't yet heard the cd I posted air mail a couple of days ago (it's in the post - yes really), and heaven knows how long it would take to ship some over... I couldn't afford to post a load on spec.
By chance, is there anyone going from England who could take a few copies over in their jacket pocket? See another post here below about current hopes of ways of offering Paypal or another route.
Or, as a bottom line, is anyone who is definitely going to the North East Squeeze In prepared to take Hawkwood Concertina Band's "Marches and Tunes" and get it played there so people can hear it. And collect a list of definite orders?
Concertina players tend to trust each other... so the first person to say "yes, me" and send their mailing address reply to <bandstand@coxboxes.co.uk> will get a free cd sent directly to them in the post tomorrow
cheers
Jenny

Unexpected change of plan I'm getting the Crabb after all.
-
I'm going to the NESI and I'd certainly buy one!
-
Jenny,
How about a wire transfer? PM me if we could do that and I'll tell you what I need to know to send it.

I'll just have to make do with ordering a copy of your CDs.
